In a Mercury News article today, Jed York was mentioned having said that the "San Francisco" would remain in the 49ers' name should the team move to Santa Clara.

Jed York, the lead voice on the 49ers' stadium plans, made one thing clear to San Jose's Rotary Club during a speech Wednesday: Don't get your hopes up about the team becoming the San Jose or Santa Clara 49ers.
"The name of the 49ers has never been in dispute," York said. "We are the San Francisco 49ers and will continue to be the San Francisco 49ers."

Florio: 49ers' Brock Purdy not a franchise QB because of his "weird" name

By Rohan Chakravarthi
Sep 23

The San Francisco 49ers are cruising through the beginning of the regular season, winning each of their first three games, with a home bout against the 0-2 Arizona Cardinals next on the docket. In his return from a torn UCL sustained in last year's NFC Championship Game, quarterback Brock Purdy has picked up right where he left off, continuing his streak of remaining unbeaten in games he's started and finished, which has increased to eight in a row. The success from 2022 has cemented Purdy as the franchise quarterback, as the 49ers traded away former franchise option Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys, but some aren't as confident in the 2022 seventh-round pick. The team is so well-rounded, and Brock Purdy continues to rack up the wins as the starting quarterback. San Francisco has started the regular season 3-0 for the ninth time in franchise history and has now won 13 consecutive regular-season games dating back to Week 8 of last season. It's the longest active streak in the NFL and the second-longest winning streak in franchise

The San Francisco 49ers announced their weekly practice squad elevations, sharing that wide receiver Willie Snead and cornerback Kendall Sheffield will be called up to the active roster for their Week 4 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. With the announcement that Snead would be called up, one may assume that 49ers wideout Deebo Samuel's status would be trending down, as the 49ers expect to add another wideout to the active roster for Week 4. However, it's actually the opposite. Looking at the injury report, the 49ers aren't at risk of just missing Samuel, but

Why Brandon Aiyuk is becoming even more valuable to the 49ers

By Rohan Chakravarthi
Sep 30

The San Francisco 49ers handily defeated the New York Giants in Week 3, winning 30-12 to improve to 3-0 on their season, scoring over 30 points for the third consecutive week of the season. Despite the comfortable win, the 49ers were nowhere near the "A-Game" offensively, struggling on some early drives and kicking field goals when touchdown opportunities were present, ultimately showcasing how dangerous this offense could be. While there were missed opportunities present last Thursday, another element that the 49ers were missing was emerging wideout Brandon Aiyuk, who was inactive due to a shoulder
