Ex-49ers coach Harbaugh helps driver and passenger in crashed Jeep

Former San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh was in the right place at the right time. He was on hand today to give assistance to a 73-year-old woman and 53-year-old man who had just been in an accident.

The crash occurred on the I-94 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Harbaugh helped the woman out of her wrecked Jeep Cherokee and gave her a coat to wear. The incident occurred just before 3 PM local time.

There were two in the car. The driver was partially ejected and the passenger remained in the vehicle. Harbaugh and a member of Michigan's athletic staff also assisted the driver with first-aid until EMS arrived.

Could rookie Trey Lance's first NFL start be on the horizon? San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters before today's practice and provided an update on starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The veteran passer will not practice today during the team's first of three practices this week. The 49ers coach added that Garoppolo has not been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, though. "It's better today, which is good news," Shanahan said. McDaniel: 49ers playbook doesn't change between Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance

There may be a misconception that a section of the San Francisco 49ers playbook is labeled "Trey Lance-only plays." That there are play designs only for the team's athletic rookie quarterback. The reality is that the offense does not change when Lance comes in for starter Jimmy Garoppolo. It's the same plays, and both quarterbacks can execute them. However, there is no doubt that Lance brings a unique challenge for opposing defenses thanks to his different skill set. If a play breaks down, Lance has more options than Garoppolo. No, Garoppolo isn't a statue. He has been known to pick up a first down or two with his legs. But Lance is a different kind of athlete.
