49ers hope to get new deals done for 5 others

Sep 20, 2006 at 10:47 PM--

According to Matt Maiocco of the Press Democrat, the San Francisco 49ers hope to get new deals done for five other players. These players are RB Frank Gore, RB Maurice Hicks, OL Adam Snyder, OL Justin Smiley and FS Mike Adams.

Matt Maiocco:
It would behoove the 49ers to get a deal done with Adams because he is scheduled to be a restricted free agent at the end of the season. Adams was undrafted, so the 49ers would receive no compensation from a team that signs him to an offer sheet. However, the 49ers would have the right to match any offer, if it goes that far.

The 49ers gave starting left cornerback Shawntae Spencer a contract extension on Wednesday.

Is 49ers QB Trey Lance getting better? And is it because of his new teacher? One expert shares his thoughts

By Marc Adams

Sometimes who is teaching is as important as what is being taught Earlier this week, when the San Francisco 49ers opened up an OTAs session to the media, most of the eyes, in person and online, were on third-year quarterback Trey Lance's new delivery. Lance, of course, had been working with QB guru, Jeff Christensen, and thanks to some leaked footage of Lance throwing with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, along with a very well-timed piece by Matt Barrows in The Athletic, there was plenty of

Trey Lance - 49ers Smokescreen, or New Paradigm Entirely?

By JD Salazar

The story of San Francisco's offseason is, has been, and will be the quarterback controversy between incumbent Brock Purdy and highly-drafted Trey Lance. Purdy, by merit of his ahead-of-schedule rehabilitation and the eight straight wins he was responsible for, is likely to enter the 2023 season as the starter. That makes Lance's role frustrating to decipher. To anyone not in the building, the dynamic playing out is clear as mud. There's no question that the standard in Santa Clara is winning. If Purdy offers the 49ers a realistic chance for a 12-13 win season and even odds should they make it back to the Super Bowl, Purdy's in. If Lance is capable of becoming a top-5 QB in this league and tilting that Super Bowl in the 49ers' favor, then he'll find a way to get out on the

Kyle Shanahan feels "really fortunate" with 49ers' QB room

By David Bonilla
May 24

Kyle Shanahan praises his quarterback room every year. Last season, the San Francisco 49ers went through three starting quarterbacks and still made it to the NFC Championship Game. Trey Lance was the Week 1 starter but suffered a season-ending ankle injury during his second game. Eleven weeks later, Jimmy Garoppolo sustained a broken foot. That opened the door for rookie Brock Purdy to show his coaches and the NFL world that he belonged, despite being the last overall pick in the draft. Purdy guided the 49ers to eight consecutive wins before suffering a severe injury in that NFC title game matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Two of the quarterbacks from last season—Lance and Purdy—remain. Both are just 23 years old. They are joined by Sam
