Eric Reid remains on the field after a violent collision

San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid remained on the turf after a violent collision with Carolina Panthers fullback Mike Tolbert in the third quarter of Sunday's game. After a few minutes, he was finally able to sit up and then walk off of the field.

Reid, a rookie, was drafted by the 49ers in the first round of this year's NFL Draft. Prior to leaving the game, he had one tackle against the Panthers.

Baldinger expects Trey Lance 'to be on the field' for 49ers in Week 1

Having a veteran quarterback looking over his shoulder at a high-selection rookie passer is the recipe for a compelling NFL storyline. That will be one of the most talked-about storylines coming out of Santa Clara starting next week when the San Francisco 49ers report to training camp. The plan is to have Jimmy Garoppolo start Week 1 and, assuming he remains healthy, for as long as possible throughout the season. The San Francisco 49ers held their first of 13 scheduled training camp practices. Below are some practice notes from various media sources.
