OL Aaron Banks on his early days as a hometown 49er, his Notre Dame influences, more

May 14, 2021

Being from the Bay Area has given 49ers offensive lineman Aaron Banks a different start to his NFL career than the rest of his fellow rookies, in a very convenient way. Banks, who grew up in Alameda, California before moving away to play his college football at Notre Dame, was at home in the Bay Area when the 49ers announced on April 30 that they'd be making him their second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Since then, he's had the pleasure of being able to hop in a car and make the drive down to Santa Clara to 49ers facilities instead of the much longer trip that the rest of his draft class needed to make. That proximity to Santa Clara has helped Banks get comfortable this week as he and the other rookies take part in rookie minicamp. "It's definitely made the

Add San Francisco 49ers cornerback Emmanuel Moseley to the list of players who plan to don a different jersey number during the 2021 season. He is dropping a digit and moving from No. 41 to No. 4. "Had to cut 1 off but I'll never forget," Moseley wrote via Instagram (h/t to Patrick Tulini for the find). He will join his fellow defensive backs, Jaquiski Tartt and Jason Verrett, in changing numbers. Tartt is switching from No. 29 to No. 26. Verrett is moving from No. 22 to No.

49ers CB Ambry Thomas confident his skills will pay the California bills, eager to make NFL debut in hometown of Detroit

By Kirk Larrabee

One thing is abundantly clear so far about 49ers rookie cornerback Ambry Thomas -- he's in no danger of falling short on confidence. Thomas, who was selected by the 49ers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of the University of Michigan, spoke with reporters Wednesday, two days before the 49ers kick off their rookie minicamp in Santa Clara. His confidence was on display throughout the media session, particularly after being asked about what he thought regarding the increased cost of living that will come from moving to the Bay Area from the Midwest. "Immediately once I got the phone call (during the draft), I was happy, excited. And I thought about everything," Thomas said. "California, the taxes, and I started thinking about all that -- the cost of

NFL veterans guiding 49ers rookie OL Jaylon Moore as his pro career begins

By Kirk Larrabee

Like any rookie, 49ers offensive lineman and fifth-round pick Jaylon Moore will have his share of challenges as he becomes acclimated to life in the NFL. But fortunately, he's been able to lean on the advice of a handful of NFL veterans as he prepares to make the jump from Western Michigan University to professional football. Moore spoke with reporters on Wednesday as he and other rookies arrived at 49ers facilities for rookie minicamp this weekend (Friday-Saturday). Among the topics Moore discussed was his relationship with NFL offensive linemen and Western Michigan products Chukwuma Okorafor (Pittsburgh Steelers), Taylor Moton (Carolina Panthers), and Luke Juriga (Philadelphia Eagles). Okorafor in particular is someone Moore has learned a lot from after
