Brock Purdy, 49ers embrace "win the day" attitude amid Super Bowl mindset
By Rohan Chakravarthi
Sep 21
The San Francisco 49ers fell just short of their Super Bowl aspirations yet again in 2022, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game after quarterback Brock Purdy suffered a torn UCL early in the first quarter.
Now fully healthy, Purdy is prepared for another potential Super Bowl run with a strong core around him, with the 49ers as motivated as ever, taking the process day by day.
"We have such a special group of guys, so much experience, the veterans on this team, and how everyone's professional in what they do," Purdy recently told Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area. "There's not a lot of selfishness or anything, ego, none of that. And so we all have the same mindset: to win a Super Bowl and do everything we can to be our best every
Brock Purdy on pace to be 49ers' first 4,000-yard passer since Jeff Garcia
Since the turn of the century, there have been 179 single-season quarterback performances of at least 4,000 yards. The 49ers, as fans well know, have but one—Jeff Garcia's impressive but futile 4,278 yard effort in a 2000 season that saw SF go just 6-10. Since then, that franchise high-water mark has gone untouched. There have been a few other contenders to rally around in that span—Alex Smith, Colin Kaepernick, and Jimmy Garoppolo, but each have fallen short of that historic mark.
Brock Purdy, though, will at least threaten to meet that lofty expectation. With his latest 310-yard, two-touchdown performance, Purdy finds himself on pace for a 4,171-yard season in 2023. His key trait has been his efficiency; so far this year, he's completed 67.0% of his passes, and
Kyle Shanahan even more impressed with Brock Purdy after 49ers-Giants film review
After the San Francisco 49ers' 30-12 victory over the New York Giants on Thursday night, head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed how happy he was with his second-year quarterback, Brock Purdy, despite some miscues.
"It definitely wasn't his best game, but I think Brock played well," Shanahan said. "I mean, he definitely wasn't perfect. Missed a couple of throws, but he also made a couple of plays that I didn't think were there. So I was definitely happy with him."
The next day, after reviewing what his team did against their Week 3 opponent, the coach was even more impressed with his quarterback.
"After watching the film, I was even more impressed than I saw last night after the game," Shanahan said Friday afternoon via a conference call. "We missed a
Florio: 49ers' Brock Purdy not a franchise QB because of his "weird" name

The San Francisco 49ers are cruising through the beginning of the regular season, winning each of their first three games, with a home bout against the 0-2 Arizona Cardinals next on the docket.
In his return from a torn UCL sustained in last year's NFC Championship Game, quarterback Brock Purdy has picked up right where he left off, continuing his streak of remaining unbeaten in games he's started and finished, which has increased to eight in a row.
The success from 2022 has cemented Purdy as the franchise quarterback, as the 49ers traded away former franchise option Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys, but some aren't as confident in the 2022 seventh-round pick.
Amongst them is Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, who shared a unique reason for not
