Sportsfan - Great Alex Smith / 49ers video

Aug 6, 2012 at 9:48 PM--

A fantastic 49ers video has been making its way around the internet. Earlier, we shared it with fans on our Facebook page. For those of you that have not seen it yet, it is worth a watch.

The creator of the video, who is a student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and used this video in an editing class, describes the video like this:

In 2010, 70,000 fans tried to boo Alex Smith off the field. His story matters, because most people have experienced a moment in life where it feels like the world is boo-ing them and wants to see them fail.

The video is over 26 minutes long, but is very well done and worth it if you are a 49ers fan and want to relive a great season or are a fan of Alex Smith.

Analyst and writer Michael Detillier, who contributes to several media outlets, joined the BetQL Daily podcast on Thursday and discussed the San Francisco 49ers' upcoming quarterback decision in next week's draft. Detillier recalls the day the team moved up nine spots from No. 12 overall to get into a position to acquire one of the top young talents. He was getting ready to publish his mock draft and needed to make some changes as it was headed to print due to the trade. While the national narrative quickly linked Mac Jones of Alabama to the 49ers, Detillier heard that general manager John Lynch had his sights set on a different prospect. Whether or not head coach Kyle Shanahan felt the same way is unknown. "When I went to print was the day of the

The San Francisco 49ers shocked the NFL world on March 26 when they traded a haul of draft picks to move up to the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft. It got everyone talking and speculating. Former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson was going through his pro day when the news broke. General manager John Lynch was in attendance, and the story seemed to overshadow the workout of the player widely expected to go No. 2 overall. While everyone immediately assumed the 49ers' blockbuster move was for their quarterback of the future, which was confirmed by Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan three days later, one confident top prospect wasn't so sure. By David Bonilla

NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport joined NFL Network on Thursday and discussed the looming quarterback question that the San Francisco 49ers have to answer next week during the draft. Will it be Mac Jones of Alabama, as many are predicting? Or will the team ruin everyone's mock drafts and take Justin Fields of Ohio State or Trey Lance of North Dakota State? While Jones is viewed as more pro-ready right now, Fields and Lance are viewed as more athletic and having higher ceilings. "But what Mac Jones brings to the table are two characteristics that Kyle Shanahan really highly values," Pelissero explained. "He is a quick
