Sportsfan - Great Alex Smith / 49ers video

Aug 6, 2012 at 9:48 PM--

A fantastic 49ers video has been making its way around the internet. Earlier, we shared it with fans on our Facebook page. For those of you that have not seen it yet, it is worth a watch.

The creator of the video, who is a student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and used this video in an editing class, describes the video like this:

In 2010, 70,000 fans tried to boo Alex Smith off the field. His story matters, because most people have experienced a moment in life where it feels like the world is boo-ing them and wants to see them fail.

The video is over 26 minutes long, but is very well done and worth it if you are a 49ers fan and want to relive a great season or are a fan of Alex Smith.

Have we seen Raheem Mostert in red and gold for the last time? The San Francisco 49ers running back will become a free agent after this season. He appeared in one game before suffering a knee injury and landing on injured reserve. The initial prognosis had Mostert missing about eight weeks, providing hope that the veteran running back would return this season. It wasn't long before Mostert announced that he opted for surgery, ending his 2021 campaign. "After consulting with multiple doctors and weighing my options, I will be having season-ending surgery to repair my knee," wrote Mostert via his announcement. Mostert underwent surgery this past week and

49ers great Jerry Rice shares why QB transitions can be challenging for players

NFL legend Jerry Rice has witnessed a San Francisco 49ers quarterback transition before — but on a much grander scale. For him, it was watching one future Hall of Fame quarterback succeed another future Hall of Fame quarterback. There is yet another transition taking place in Santa Clara, this time from Jimmy Garoppolo, a quarterback who helped guide the 49ers to a Super Bowl just two seasons ago, to rookie Trey Lance. The topic has been discussed at length. When should it happen? How should it happen? Most of the quarterback discussion is done with an outside perspective. This week, Rice joined the 49ers Talk podcast to share the behind-the-scenes perspective and what a quarterback transition is like for players. "It's kind of hard to

49ers hope Brandon Aiyuk's 'great week' of practice carries over to Colts game, says Deebo Samuel

Brandon Aiyuk has certainly been in the spotlight over the 49ers bye week, as his lack of touches on the year has been questioned, given his impressive rookie season. Aiyuk currently has just 15 targets on the year, good for 5th on the team, and only eight of those plays have resulted in a catch. Last year, Aiyuk accumulated 60 receptions, 748 yards, and five touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories while playing in just 12 games. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will return to the field Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts and has had the chance to practice with Aiyuk and the first-team offense after being cleared for the calf injury he sustained against the Seattle Seahawks. Amongst that first-team offense is breakout star receiver Deebo

Alex Mack on 49ers' QB situation: 'I want the guy who's going to win games'

The San Francisco 49ers might be approaching a crossroads. Eventually, a quarterback decision will need to be made. Jimmy Garoppolo is the team's undisputed starter right now. However, his injury history made the 49ers uncomfortable to the point that the team drafted Trey Lance this offseason. Lance is the future. He will eventually succeed Garoppolo. When that happens is anybody's guess. Garoppolo sustained a calf injury during Week 4, forcing Lance to start Week 5 — when the rookie suffered a knee sprain. Things are trending toward Garoppolo starting this weekend against the Indianapolis Colts. The veteran passer was out on the practice field with his
