The good news is that the Seattle Seahawks lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The outcome may have been different with a healthy Russell Wilson at the helm, but the 23-20 defeat drops Seattle to 2-4 and last place in the NFC West. The San Francisco 49ers are 2-3 and were on their bye during Week 6's action. They are now in third place and will begin preparing to host the Indianapolis Colts. We still don't know who will be the quarterback in that game. Both Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) and rookie Trey Lance (knee) are dealing with injuries. We'll learn more about their statuses during this week's practices. The bye week allowed head coach Kyle Shanahan to attend the induction ceremony for his father, Mike Shanahan, into the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame. The elder Shanahan

DeForest Buckner on 49ers with Trey Lance: 'You kind of get that Baltimore Ravens kind of vibe'

Jimmy Garoppolo will probably start when the San Francisco 49ers host DeForest Buckner and the Indianapolis Colts at Levi's Stadium this weekend. For Buckner, it will be his first time stepping into the stadium since the 49ers traded him to the Colts last year. "It's definitely weird being on the other side, watching film on [them]," Buckner admits. "Obviously, they've got a bunch of new faces since I've been gone, but [also] a lot of similar faces on that side of the ball, a lot of guys that I call brothers and friends. It's weird, definitely. "I know it's going to feel weird once I get to the stadium, and get to the opponent's locker room, and little things like that. It's definitely going to be kind of weird, but I'm excited." While Buckner and

On Sunday night, a familiar face will be leading his Indianapolis Colts defense into Levi's Stadium, looking to prove that the San Francisco 49ers made a mistake by trading him last year. All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner will play against his former team for the first time since that trade. General manager John Lynch knows the move to ship Buckner, an outstanding young talent, will be questioned for years to come. The two sides just couldn't find a contract extension figure that worked well for each party. "We loved everything about DeForest," Lynch said this morning on KNBR's Murph & Mac show. "... A lot of people, and I'm sure they'll continue to talk whether that was the right move [or] wrong move, but it's the move we made at the time,

John Lynch 'fully confident' 49ers can rebound from 3-game losing streak

The San Francisco 49ers started 2-0 but have since lost three consecutive games. No one inside the organization is panicking, though. Instead, the focus remains on one game at a time. That means looking toward the Indianapolis Colts, not backward at the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and Arizona Cardinals. At 2-3, San Francisco sits in last place within the NFC West. However, general manager John Lynch is confident he and head coach Kyle Shanahan have built a roster that can rebound. The 49ers are in their bye week, and a lot of football remains in this 17-game season. "I'm fully confident [the pieces are in place to turn things around] because of the people in our room and the character of the people in our room, because of the people we have in leadership
