The 49ers open the 2022 preseason with a home game at Levi's Stadium against the Green Bay Packers. It marks the sixth time the two clubs have met in the preseason and the first meeting since 2016. The 49ers lead the all-time preseason series 3-2. San Francisco returns multiple key players from last season's team that reached the NFC Championship, including All-Pros WR Deebo Samuel and T Trent Williams, along with Pro Bowlers DL Nick Bosa, FB Kyle Juszczyk, and TE George Kittle. DL Arik Armstead and LB Fred Warner look to lead a defense that added CB Charvarius Ward, DL Kemoko Turay, DL Kerry Hyder Jr., LB Oren Burks, and S George Odum, as the team also brought in WR Ray-Ray McCloud III on offense, among others. The 49ers have their first notable injury of this year's training camp, but it doesn't sound like it's something of a serious nature. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed Friday morning that defensive lineman Arik Armstead sprained his MCL at practice this week and that it could require some time to recover. Armstead was missing at practice on Thursday and could be out for a while. "It's probably going to be a few weeks. Nothing we're concerned about, but we're taking some time away," Shanahan said. Shanahan said Armstead took a bruise during practice that wasn't an issue at first but flared up after practice. After going through examinations, the 49ers decided to put Armstead on the sidelines. "It didn't bother him that bad but it

Even more closure around Garoppolo could be on its way soon, as Marco Martinez of the "49ers RedZone" podcast confirmed to me on Thursday that the veteran quarterback's agent has indeed been in talks with the New York Giants, who have had themselves a bit of a quarterback dilemma after electing to bypass on Daniel Jones's fifth-year option and signing veteran Tyrod Taylor to a two-year deal in the offseason. Remember, Garoppolo currently has one year and $24.2 million left on his contract, but it's

This offseason will go down as one of the more chaotic ones in league history. The San Francisco 49ers finally locked up their star receiver Deebo Samuel to a multi-year contract extension. This needed to be the organization's top priority heading into training camp. Not only were there a plethora of star receivers threatening to hold out in hopes of securing a long-term deal, but the movement of star players around the league was also unprecedented. With the quarterback carousel taking place around the league, seeing Russell Wilson go to Denver, Deshaun Watson to Cleveland, and Matt Ryan heading to Indianapolis, 2022 will go down as the year of the
