49ers injury news: Deebo Samuel avoids serious injury, other updates from Kyle Shanahan

By David Bonilla
Sep 22

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan jumped on a conference call with reporters on Friday afternoon, the day after the team's 30-12 win over the New York Giants. Shanahan provided several injury updates. Linebackers Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles and Dre Greenlaw emerged from Thursday night's game with low-ankle sprains. Both are day-to-day. The good news is that players have some extra time off before returning to work on Monday, when the 49ers begin preparing for the Arizona Cardinals. The only other player who was banged up in the Week 3 contest is wide receiver Deebo Samuel. The 49ers initially feared a rib injury, but

John Lynch on 49ers contract extension: "I've got a ton of gratitude for the York family"

By David Bonilla
Sep 29

It is believed that general manager John Lynch's contract extension keeps him with the San Francisco 49ers through the 2027 season. The deal was actually done ahead of the start of the season but wasn't announced until the day after the team's Week 3 win over the New York Giants. Lynch was in Texas, where he and his family were spending time with his daughter, a student at TCU. That's when people started congratulating the 49ers general manager on his extension. That surprised him since the actual signing took place weeks earlier. Still, Lynch is grateful for the expression of confidence by 49ers management. "I think [head coach] Kyle [Shanahan], yesterday, I heard him use the term 'grateful,'" Lynch said Friday morning on KNBR's "Murph and Mac"

"49ers look like the NFL's most complete team": Where San Francisco stands in Week 4 power rankings

By David Bonilla
Sep 26

The undefeated Miami Dolphins' 70-20 win over the winless Denver Broncos has shot them to the top of multiple power rankings. However, for most, the San Francisco 49ers sit in the top spot. Also undefeated and sitting atop the NFC West standings, the 49ers are coming off a 30-12 win over the New York Giants. The team is so well-rounded, and Brock Purdy continues to rack up the wins as the starting quarterback. San Francisco has started the regular season 3-0 for the ninth time in franchise history and has now won 13 consecutive regular-season games dating back to Week 8 of last season. It's the longest active streak in the NFL and the second-longest winning streak in franchise

By David Bonilla
Sep 27

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 4 contest against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk felt good enough to practice on Monday despite missing the 49ers' Week 3 game against the New York Giants due to a shoulder injury. Aiyuk was limited during Wednesday's practice. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is dealing with rib and knee injuries and did not practice on Monday. Neither did wide receiver Jauan Jennings, cornerback Ambry Thomas, or linebackers Dre Greenlaw and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles. Samuel, Greenlaw, and Jennings remained out on Wednesday. Thomas and
