Why 49ers' Brock Purdy has 'all the confidence in the world' in Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Nov 21

Brock Purdy strengthened his chemistry with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during training camp, after the San Francisco 49ers quarterback returned to practice following offseason surgery on his throwing arm. That quarterback-receiver chemistry has only improved as the season has progressed. On Sunday, Aiyuk caught five passes for a career-high 156 yards and a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was his fourth game of the season with over 100 receiving yards. "He's different from [WR] Deebo [Samuel]. He's different from [TE] George [Kittle]," quarterback Brock Purdy told reporters on Tuesday. "And so, sort of just taking note of that. And then B.A.'s just got length. He's got range. And so I know where he can get to and where I shouldn't throw the ball

49ers QB Brock Purdy: "I feel like my arm has gotten stronger"

By David Bonilla

A few weeks before training camp, Brock Purdy felt more comfortable with his deep ball. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback was still only four months removed from offseason surgery to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his throwing arm. With external doubts surrounding his availability for the start of the regular season, Purdy surprised everyone by being cleared to practice at the start of training camp. Still, his arm wasn't quite where he wanted it to be just yet. That was expected. With time, he got more comfortable, and the strength returned to where he wanted it to be. That didn't just mean getting the football 50 yards downfield. It meant doing that consistently. "I was still trying to get to that point [during training camp], build up

Omar Ruiz talks Brock Purdy respect, 49ers-Eagles showdown

By David Bonilla
Nov 27

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has showcased elite-level performances this season. Nevertheless, some seem reluctant to give the second-year player the respect that many 49ers fans believe he deserves. NFL Network reporter Omar Ruiz joined KNBR on Monday morning and was asked if he senses a reluctance among the media to categorize Purdy among the upper echelon of NFL quarterbacks. "Yeah, and I think as long as he has a loaded Forty-Niner team around him, it'll probably always be like that unless he wins a Super Bowl," Ruiz responded on the "Murph and Mac" show. Ruiz drew parallels to former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson's journey to being considered among the league's best. Initially, the team's outstanding defensive play

John Lynch praises 49ers' Brock Purdy: "He's got all the arm strength you'll ever need"

By David Bonilla

Heading into last year's draft, doubts swirled around Brock Purdy's arm strength, with heightened concern following surgery this past offseason to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his throwing arm. Would Purdy be ready for the start of the regular season? Would he be able to get the football downfield to his receivers? Those questions were answered, punctuated on Sunday by Purdy's 76-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, marking the longest throw of the quarterback's career.
