Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Patrick Peterson predicted an interception against San Francisco 49ers quarterback
Brock Purdy.
"
There is some tell signs out there that tells us what plays we're gonna get from those guys in certain situations," Peterson shared before the Week 1 contest. "When I get my pick Sunday, we'll talk about it."
Things didn't turn out how he foretold. Not only did the Steelers defense fail to come away with a Purdy-thrown pass, Peterson was beaten for two touchdowns to wide receiver
Brandon Aiyuk.
On Tuesday, "Inside the NFL" shared some mic'd up footage from the 49ers-Steelers clash (h/t
Alex Espinoza of 95.7 The Game), one that ended in a 30-7 San Francisco rout. You can hear what teammate
Deebo Samuel told Aiyuk after one of the scores while conversing on the sideline.
"You left him there," Samuel told Aiyuk. "I thought he said he had all the tells. I thought he had all the tells."
The footage also shows Peterson and Purdy talking after the game, with the cornerback saying, "You know it wasn't nothing personal, baby. Keep doing your thing, baby."
Purdy responded, "I grew up the biggest fan of yours."
After the game, Purdy took the high road when asked about Peterson's prediction, saying, "
He's a competitor. I have nothing but respect for Patrick Peterson and everything that he does."
Aiyuk also took the high road in his post-game presser.
"He did a good job," the receiver said of Peterson. "I've been talking to Pat for a little bit now, since we've had a couple encounters. So I've been talking to him for a while now. But always fun to go against him."
Purdy targeted Aiyuk eight times, with the receiver hauling in all eight for a game-leading 129 yards and two touchdowns. Purdy finished the game 19-of-29 for 220 yards with two touchdowns and a passer rating of 111.3.

49ers vs. Eagles: James Bradberry responds to Deebo Samuel calling him 'trash'
During the offseason, Deebo Samuel expressed his thoughts following the San Francisco 49ers' playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The star receiver asserted that the better team didn't emerge victorious. After all, in that NFC Championship Game, the 49ers' starting and backup quarterbacks sustained injuries, contributing to the 31-7 defeat.
In a conversation with I AM ATHLETE, Samuel commended Eagles cornerback Darius Slay but refrained from praising James Bradberry, whom he labeled "trash."
This week, when asked if he regrets any of his offseason comments, including those about Bradberry, Samuel stood firm, stating,
