new record-setting deal with the San Francisco 49ers will understandably be this week's top storyline. There was other news ahead of the team's Wednesday practice, though. Head coach Kyle Shanahan shared some injury updates as the Niners prepare for their Week 1 opponent, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The following players will be limited during Wednesday's practice.
McCloud has recently been cleared to practice, well ahead of the 49ers' initial return timeframe for the receiver. Kittle and Gipson returning to practice is also good news for the team.
Shanahan expressed optimism that Moody, the 49ers' rookie kicker, will be ready to play against the Steelers.
"Just as long as he doesn't have a setback," Shanahan shared. "He's looking good now, and I feel good about him, and I'd be surprised if he's not there. So we'll keep going at the pace we're at. As long as he doesn't have a setback, we should be all right."
The 49ers will release an official injury and practice participation report this afternoon.
Team Captains
Shanahan announced the 49ers' six team captains for the 2023 season. They are listed below.
