According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, Oklahoma tight end
Brayden Willis is visiting the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday.
"One of the best blocking TEs in the 2023 NFL Draft, the 49ers previously had a Combine Formal with Willis as well," wrote Melo.
Willis registered 39 receptions for 514 yards and a team-high seven receiving touchdowns through 13 game appearances as a senior in 2022, per
Sports Reference. He caught 75 passes for 998 yards with 13 touchdowns through his five collegiate seasons. The tight end missed six games in 2020 due to an injury,
"Willis' size and athletic profile leaves him lacking as both an in-line blocker and as a pass-catching option," wrote Lance Zierlein of NFL.com in
the player's draft profile. "He lacks in-line power and plays with low-burn intensity getting into blocks at times, but body control and hand strength help increase his sustain effectiveness when blocking on the move. He's tough working into traffic, but a high percentage of his catches came with nobody around him in space. He will need to prove he can separate against man coverage outside of the Oklahoma scheme."
Willis is from Arlington, TX. He earned a pre-draft grade of 5.69 from NFL.com, which equates to a "chance to make a roster or practice squad," per the site's 8-point grading scale.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6' 3 1/2" and 241-pound Willis had a vertical jump of 32 inches, a broad jump of 117 inches, a 7.3-second three-cone drill time, 20 reps in the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.36 seconds. His other measurables include an arm length of 33 1/4 inches and hands measuring 9 3/4 inches.
Willis had a vertical jump of 33.50 inches, a broad jump of 118 inches, a 7.46-second three-cone drill time, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.50 seconds at his personal Pro Day,

49ers praise Ji'Ayir Brown's journey from draft to starting lineup
The San Francisco 49ers are still exploring their safety options due to injuries to Talanoa Hufanga and George Odum. Tayler Hawkins is on the practice squad, and the team has added veteran Erik Harris. General manager John Lynch admits that there aren't many outside options at this point in the season.
The silver lining is the depth added through the draft, with Ji'Ayir Brown selected from Penn State in the third round. Brown made a notable debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, stepping in for Hufanga, and made his first start against the Seattle Seahawks last week.
The rookie's impressive performance has not gone unnoticed, earning a 76.8 overall Pro Football Focus grade against the Buccaneers and a 73.9 grade on Thanksgiving night. The 49ers are optimistic
49ers vs. Seahawks: Brock Purdy gears up for familiar foe, acknowledges room for growth
Brock Purdy is gearing up to lead his San Francisco 49ers against the Seattle Seahawks for the second time in three games. This time, the Niners will play host, with Sunday's NFC West clash taking place at Levi's Stadium.
Purdy has faced Seattle more than any other opponent in his NFL career, creating a familiarity with the division rival. Despite never losing to the Seahawks, the second-year quarterback emphasizes that he won't take any opponent for granted.
"They got good players, some really good dudes that have a lot of experience and stuff, obviously with [LB] Bobby Wagner and then [DB Quandre] Diggs in the secondary, some boys that are playing corner that have got some experience now under their belts," Purdy told reporters after Thursday's
Kyle Shanahan provides injury updates on Arik Armstead, Spencer Burford, Elijah Mitchell ahead of 49ers-Seahawks
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided injury updates during his weekly interview on Bay Area radio station KNBR, shedding light on the statuses of some ailing players ahead of the team's Week 14 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.
Arik Armstead has yet to hit the practice field this week as he deals with foot and knee issues. On Wednesday, Shanahan said he would be surprised to see his veteran defensive tackle on the field this weekend. A day later, nothing has changed.
"Armstead's still looking like a long shot," Shanahan said on the "Tolbert and Copes" show. "Haven't ruled him out yet, officially, but I'll talk to the doctors. But I
49ers' Christian McCaffrey offers scouting report on younger brother
Maybe the San Francisco 49ers will be in the market to draft another wide receiver soon. Suppose the front office seeks the opinion of running back Christian McCaffrey. In that case, he will likely be vocal in his recommendation—a certain Rice wideout named Luke McCaffrey, who happens to be his younger brother.
"I would love to play with him one day," the older McCaffrey told reporters in the 49ers' locker room after Thursday's practice. "That would be the coolest thing ever. So I'm excited for him and his journey, and he's only going to get better."
Luke, listed at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, recorded 68 receptions for 963 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, averaging 14.2 yards per catch.
"Yeah, I've watched every snap of every game," Christian
