There has been little talk in the NFL these days, unless of course you live in L.A. Half of the NFL teams have already threatened to move there. The list is down to about five. The question is, do the Niners have a shot at moving to L.A.?
It does look pretty grim for the Niners getting a new stadium in San Francisco. But that does not mean they are heading for the "Southland!"
All one would have to do is point across the Bay to Oakland. The Raiders are more primed to leave the Bay Area than the Niners. Why? Well it starts with a one billion dollar lawsuit the Raiders have against the City of Oakland. The Raiders beef: they want out of the lease because of lack of sellouts. So if the Raiders win and get to tear up the lease, what does that mean? Well it would mean Al Davis would look for a new deal somewhere else.
It is no secret that Al Davis loves Southern California. Al wants his team in L.A. with a new stadium. It is a matter of time before the Raiders leave Oakland. The only way they stay is if another A.F.C. team gets to L.A. first.
So you say, "What does this have to do with the Niners?" Well, "not much!"
But one thing I can see happening would be the Raiders leaving for a better deal and the Niners moving into the Raiders’ old home! That would be the ultimate "slap in the face" to Raider fans!
But it would solve all stadium woes to the Niners and their fans. I would not mind one bit!
Stay tuned Niner fans. This is the beginning of some serious NFL politics...
