There's a player-player rivalry brewing in the NFC West. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is ready for a bout with San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward, and he's not talking about the Week 18 rematch between the two teams in January.

Following this past Monday night's win over the Cardinals in Mexico City, Ward criticized Hopkins following the 49ers' 38-10 victory.

"He was getting locked up. He was doing some dirty things," Ward said. "He tried to clip me, he grabbed me by the throat. He grabbed my facemask on one play, so I don't respect his game. That's steroid boy."

That last part is a jab regarding Hopkins' six-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs to start the season.

Hopkins responded by calling the comments "laughable" and "funny." He had more to say on Friday (h/t Damond Talbot of NFL Draft Diamonds).

"I hate to hear a guy talk like that about somebody, about anybody," Hopkins told reporters in the Cardinals locker room. "So, for me, I pray for people like that. But a lot of people are tough when they can go and type something and say something. I respect guys like Le'Veon Bell who get in that boxing ring.

"I wish there was something [I could do right now about] that guy over there (Ward) that said something [about] me. I would definitely love to get in a boxing ring and see how tough he is in real life."

Charvarius Ward willing to help 49ers land Tre'Davious White

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand. Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction. Ward described White as a "hand in glove

According to general manager John Lynch, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward wasn't the sole player to undergo core muscle surgery this offseason. Lynch disclosed to reporters at the NFL owners meetings on Monday that All-Pro tight end George Kittle also had the procedure. However, the silver lining is that both players are expected to be fully cleared for training camp, set to commence at the end of July. George Kittle and Charvarius Ward both had core muscle surgery this offseason and will be back, fully cleared, for

Daniel Jeremiah explains why 49ers could still address pass rush in NFL Draft

By David Bonilla

Mock drafts will never please everyone, especially when they solely focus on the first 32 selections without offering perspective on what might come beyond the first round. Regarding the San Francisco 49ers, analyst Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft was no different. He projected former Penn State pass rusher Chop Robinson to join the Bay Area team. Why the skepticism from fans? The 49ers' free agency focus has been on revamping their defensive front. After allowing Arik Armstead, Chase Young, and others to depart for other organizations, the team addressed last season's inconsistent play by adding defensive ends Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos, trading for defensive tackle Maliek
