The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 2 contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Tight end George Kittle missed his fifth consecutive practice since suffering a groin strain on September 5, decreasing his chances of playing on Sunday.

Offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill also continues to be sidelined as he attempts to return from a hamstring injury. On Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't sound too optimistic about Brunskill's chances of playing against the Seahawks.

"We were thinking he'd be ready for Week 1, and he had that setback," Shanahan said. "So he'll be later in this week, but I'm not sure yet. [His chances of playing are] not good right now."

Tackle Trent Williams returned to practice after the 49ers gave him a veteran day off on Wednesday.

Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Seahawks, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

This article was first published by Audacy and was syndicated with permission. 49ers tight end George Kittle worked up a quick rapport with quarterback Brock Purdy last season, as the duo connected on seven touchdowns in the final four games of the regular season. In two games so far this year, Kittle (six catches, 49 yards) has taken a backseat in the passing game to players like Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. Still, he's impressed Al Sacco and Brian Renick of the 49ers Webzone "No Huddle" podcast from Audacy Sports with his series of pulverizing

TE George Kittle sets 49ers record vs. Rams

By David Bonilla
Sep 17

With his second catch on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, tight end George Kittle reached 400 career receptions. It took him 84 games to achieve the milestone, the fewest by a member of the 49ers and the fourth-fewest by an NFL tight end since at least 1970. Only NFL tight ends Kellen Winslow, Travis Kelce, and Jimmy Graham reached the mark in fewer games. With at least 2 receptions this week at the Rams, George Kittle would reach 400 career receptions, doing so in the fewest amount of games (84) by a member of the 49ers and the 4th-fewest games by an NFL TE since at least 1970 (Kellen Winslow-72; Travis

49ers injury news: Deebo Samuel avoids serious injury, other updates from Kyle Shanahan

By David Bonilla
Sep 22

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan jumped on a conference call with reporters on Friday afternoon, the day after the team's 30-12 win over the New York Giants. Shanahan provided several injury updates. Linebackers Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles and Dre Greenlaw emerged from Thursday night's game with low-ankle sprains. Both are day-to-day. The good news is that players have some extra time off before returning to work on Monday, when the 49ers begin preparing for the Arizona Cardinals. The only other player who was banged up in the Week 3 contest is wide receiver Deebo Samuel. The 49ers initially feared a rib injury, but
