The San Francisco 49ers have moved their mandatory three-day minicamp, initially scheduled for June 13-15, up to this week. It will now take place June 7-9. This week was supposed to be the last of organized team activities, with practices initially scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Now, the team will gather on the field from Tuesday through Thursday.
The offseason schedule was originally announced on April 1. Article 22 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement stipulates that clubs may hold one mandatory minicamp for veteran players. This minicamp must occur during Phase Three of the offseason program.
The real question is whether wide receiver Deebo Samuel will be in attendance for this week's minicamp. Last month, head coach Kyle Shanahan said he expects his veteran players to be in attendance. That includes Samuel.
"Trent [Williams], I expect to be here towards the end. We'll see," Shanahan said. "I know he'll at least be here, from what he says, when it's mandatory. And same with [Nick] Bosa. And I'm expecting Deebo also."
Teams can fine players as much as $95,877 for missing the three-day camp, per CBA:

Samuel has been the subject of some offseason drama. He had requested a trade amid a contract extension dispute, but the 49ers didn't grant that wish. The do-everything receiver had a significant impact on the team's success last season, contributing 1,770 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who the team has been attempting to trade, is unlikely to be required to attend. He is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and won't begin throwing until the end of the month or early July. In addition, defensive end Dee Ford isn't expected to remain with the 49ers after struggling with back issues. He will likely be excused too.
