Round three of the NFL Draft has officially concluded, and, by no surprise, Jimmy Garoppolo remains on the San Franciso 49ers roster.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the 49ers were looking for the equivalent of a second-round pick in return for their veteran quarterback, which, due to his injuries and salary, was certainly out of the question.

Following the draft, head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch spoke with the media, regarding the quarterback situation, and shared optimism about their group heading into 2022.

"We've said all along it's going to take the right deal to get us to move him, and he's part of our team right now," Lynch said. "And so we're excited about that. We look at the totality of that position. We feel really good about it right now. We're extremely excited about Trey, excited about Jimmy, and Nate Sudfeld. There's a lot to like about him as well. So we're excited about that group."

Of course, the major question is around Garoppolo's $27 million salary for 2022, which has lowered the 49ers' cap space to amongst the lowest in the entirety of the NFL heading into the draft.

Despite the lack of a trade market, the 49ers haven't budged on their stance regarding Garoppolo, and could even carry him onto the 2022 roster despite his salary if they don't get the return they desire.

Garoppolo's trade market appeared to lessen even more on Friday as a rumored contender for the veteran, the Carolina Panthers, traded up into the third-round to select Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral with their first selection on day two of the draft.

Per the Athletic's Jeff Howe, the Texans could be interested in Garoppolo following the draft, although that avenue still has much work to do if there's to be an agreement.

But, as for now, Jimmy Garoppolo is a 49er, and that doesn't appear to change by the end of the draft.

By Marc Adams

We're just over 24 hours before round one of the NFL Draft begins. The San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to have their first pick in the opening round since 2021 when they drafted Trey Lance. That didn't turn out well, but there is optimism that the team will be able to make its roster better over the next few days. GM John Lynch spoke on Monday and said there's a possibility the team could trade out of the first round. I doubt that would go over well with the fanbase, especially since they haven't had a first-rounder in the past two years. But if it's a good trade that lands the 49ers some quality picks, we could see that happen, especially if there aren't any players at pick 31 that the team is excited about. We opened up the 49ers Webzone Mailbag to see what

Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz reports that the San Francisco 49ers were among several NFL teams in attendance for former Illinois defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton's pro day workout. Amidst swirling trade rumors surrounding Brandon Aiyuk, the speculation surrounding Deebo Samuel's future with the San Francisco 49ers seems to have quieted down. According to Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers have assured Samuel that he will not be involved in any pre- or post-draft transactions, ensuring his place on the roster for the time being. "Samuel, who signed a three-year, $71.55 million extension before the 2022 season, has been assured by his bosses that he will not be dealt during or after the draft," Silver reported, citing a source familiar with the discussions. With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, ESPN contributors have highlighted some prospects who have seen their draft stock rise throughout the evaluation process. Jordan Reid and Matt Miller pinpointed players who could hear their names called at the end of the first round. Interestingly, both of the prospects identified by Reid and Miller play in the trenches but on different sides of the ball. The San Francisco 49ers are widely expected to draft an offensive lineman with their first selection—No. 31 overall. The team mostly ignored the group in free agency. However, it wouldn't surprise many people if the
