On Monday, the Miami Dolphins will hold a second interview with San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel for the team's head coaching vacancy, per a report from NFL Network (h/t to Justin Hier).
McDaniel, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, and Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore were considered the finalists for the Dolphins job. However, the New York Giants hired Daboll as their next head coach, taking him out of the running in Miami.
McDaniel has been with Kyle Shanahan since the 49ers head coach started his NFL career as an offensive assistant with the Houston Texans in 2006. McDaniel joined Shanahan in Santa Clara as a run-game coordinator when Shanahan, the former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator, was named the 49ers' head coach in 2017. San Francisco promoted McDaniel to offensive coordinator on January 18, 2021.
