Dan Orlovsky breaks down why the 49ers are the worst matchup for the Packers

By David Bonilla

For a week, Dallas Cowboys fans had to endure the media telling them that the San Francisco 49ers were a bad matchup for the self-appointed America's Team. That ended up being true. On Sunday, the 49ers went into AT&T Stadium and knocked the NFC East champions out of the playoffs. Now, it's Green Bay Packers fans' turn to hear about a bad upcoming matchup. The Packers will host the 49ers at Lambeau Field on Saturday night, and ESPN's Dan Orlovsky broke down why this is a poor matchup for the home team. "It's the worst matchup the Packers could have gotten," Orlovsky said Monday on ESPN's Get Up. "It's a bad seven-day stretch for the Packers, knowing that San Francisco comes back, beats the [Rams], then they go on the road [to beat the Cowboys]. And

49ers' playoff-clinching win vs. Rams has added meaning for me

I was 16 years old when the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys last met in the playoffs. Twenty-seven years later, they are preparing to do so again. The 49ers got there with a thrilling come-from-behind 27-24 overtime victory over the division-rival Los Angeles Rams. In 1995, my 49ers fandom was springing to life. I remember watching the seasons leading up to that one and seeing my father frustrated by previous playoff exits at the hands of the Cowboys. I occasionally watched, rooting on the Bay Area team because of my father. It brought him joy, as it would for me in the years that followed. However, there was something different about that 1994 campaign, and my father knew it. The 49ers were on a mission, loading up on talent and setting their sights on

5 improbable heroes from the 49ers thrilling victory over the Rams

The San Francisco 49ers had the usual heroes step on Sunday against the Rams. The game would not have been won, and the playoffs would not have been clinched, without the great contributions of several great players like Deebo Samuel, Jimmy Garoppolo, Arik Armstead, Elijah Mitchell and Brandon Aiyuk. Samuel and Aiyuk were brilliant, of course. Mitchell and Garoppolo both showed a lot of toughness, grit and poise when the 49ers really needed to keep drives going. And Armstead was dominant. It was certainly his best game the last two seasons. But there were a handful of players who helped the 49ers get into the postseason, that we probably wouldn't have expected to come up big, like they did. Sure, you had Emmanuel Moseley with an interception in his first game back from

'They don't make them any tougher than Jimmy': Baldy impressed by Garoppolo's gutsy 49ers-Rams performance

Early last week, no one was even sure if Jimmy Garoppolo would be suited up for Sunday's regular-season finale. The Los Angeles Rams had to figure the safe bet was a matchup against San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Trey Lance. And, of course, head coach Kyle Shanahan was being coy about which quarterback he planned to start. Garoppolo played through a torn ligament and chipped bone in his right thumb. After Sunday's thrilling playoff-clinching 27-24 overtime win, the quarterback admitted that he had a good feeling early in the week that he would be able to play. "Yeah, I think it was Tuesday we did the throwing session, tested it out, turned it into a game-like scenario," Garoppolo explained. "I kept being aware of it the whole week, but I had a pretty good
