Today, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters via a conference call. His team is coming off a 28-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and fell to 2-2 on the season. Shanahan provided several injury updates from the game.
The most discussed injury was to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who could not start the second half, giving way to rookie Trey Lance.
Shanahan said Garoppolo suffered a calf contusion and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday. However, the coach believes there is still a chance that Garoppolo will be available for this weekend's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Shanahan also provided the following other injury updates.
- Kicker Robbie Gould will miss some time due to a strained groin. Injured reserve is an option. The coach estimates his kicker could be out three to five weeks.
- Tackle Trent Williams is day-to-day with a shoulder injury.
- Defensive end Samson Ebukam is dealing with some hamstring soreness.
- Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw is day-to-day due to his knee injury.
- Tight end George Kittle is day-to-day with calf soreness.
Shanahan felt the injury news for Williams was good, considering how bad it seemed on Sunday.
"That was probably some of the best news we got, considering what we were worried about initially," Shanahan said. "There is some fluid in there and stuff, so there are some issues with it, but that's stuff that, hopefully, he can recover here before Sunday."
Shanahan added that running back
Elijah Mitchell should be able to practice on Wednesday without the blue no-contact jersey. The rookie is dealing with a shoulder injury suffered during Week 2.
"That would be huge to get him back," Shanahan said, "and, hopefully, he'll be feeling better this week. It will be nice to see him get some reps without the blue jersey on."

Trent Williams: 49ers are pretty good when we have a QB
Trent Williams asserts that his San Francisco 49ers are the best team in the NFL, and after Sunday's beatdown of the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles, it's hard to argue with the big man.
Most felt the two teams were closely matched heading into the Week 13 showdown, a rematch of last season's NFC Championship Game. What did we learn from the contest? While the Eagles are good, San Francisco may have declared to the league that they are a different class of team.
Last season, the Eagles came out on top, advancing to the Super Bowl, but the injury to quarterback Brock Purdy left lingering questions. This time around, fans got a glimpse of what might have been after a confident Niners squad outperformed the Eagles in every way.

Trent Williams reveals message to 49ers ahead of Eagles game
Trent Williams remembers Philadelphia well. The veteran offensive lineman holds vivid memories of that city's fanbase, having frequented Lincoln Financial Field as a member of the Washington Commanders.
The San Francisco 49ers recalled their experience playing in that stadium during last season's NFC Championship Game. Still, Williams is more familiar with the venue and was able to offer valuable insights to his teammates ahead of Sunday's highly anticipated matchup.
"That's one thing that I vividly remember from my years in Washington is that the crowd, although they are loud and they are hostile, one thing about it is they do turn on the team pretty quick," Williams told KNBR's Brian Murphy and Markus Boucher on Tuesday morning. "So my message to my guys is
