49ers release tackle Shon Coleman off IR with an injury settlement

Sep 10, 2021 at 1:47 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly released tackle Shon Coleman off of injured reserve with an injury settlement. The offensive lineman landed on injured reserve on August 31 due to a triceps strain sustained in the team's preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders.

San Francisco traded for Coleman on August 31, 2018, sending a seventh-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the offensive lineman. He never played in a regular-season game for the 49ers. Coleman landed on injured reserve in 2019 and opted out of last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

San Fransisco 49ers third-year wideout Deebo Samuel broke out onto the scene once again during Week 1 against the Detroit Lions last Sunday. The wide receiver put up impressive numbers with 9 catches and a touchdown for a total of 189 yards, the second-highest receiving total by any Niners player on opening week. This comes as a relief to San Fransisco as Samuel once again looked like the promising player he previously showed flashes of whenever he was healthy. In his rookie season, back in 2019, Deebo was touted as one of the best receivers out of the draft right next to A.J. Brown, DK Metcalf, and Terry McLaurin as the blossoming rookie put up 802 yards on 57 catches. However, the very next season, 2020, the injury bug that hit the rest of the Niners roster affected Deebo

San Francisco's star wide receiver Deebo Samuel had himself another very impressive game in last week's close competition with the Philadelphia Eagles. Even more promising for the 49ers is the fact that the third year wideout had a good performance against Eagles secondary and Darius Slay in the low scoring, grit and grind game. The final score ended up being a 17-11 win, but the Niners had an otherwise stagnant offense for most of the game, being shut down by Philadephia's strong run defense. The 49ers receiver did it all on the field as he even had a critical pass breakup to prevent a potentially costly mistake by quarterback Jimmy Garappolo. Shanahan had this to say about the potential game-altering play: "I thought he [Garappolo] did miss a little one on that out throw on
