Matt Barrows of The Athletic has some good news for those who were worried about San Francisco 49ers tackle Trent Williams' knee. While the eight-time Pro Bowler isn't participating in today's joint practice with the Los Angeles Chargers in Southern California, he is walking around with his teammates and doesn't appear to be limping or bothered by the injury.

Williams limped off the practice field in Santa Clara on Monday after being clipped on his leg.

"I didn't see it. They said he just clipped his hip or knee or something, and we got him out," head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the practice.

Williams sat out Tuesday's practice due to some "knee swelling," per a team report. The veteran tackle did not play this past weekend in the 49ers' preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, and it is unknown if he will take the field on Sunday against the Chargers. Although, that doesn't seem very likely.

Barrows notes that swing tackle Shon Coleman (knee) also isn't participating. KNBR's Jake Hutchinson adds that cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring), defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw (shoulder), offensive lineman Aaron Banks (shoulder), and running back Elijah Mitchell (abductor) are also sitting out practice.

Wide receiver Jalen Hurd (knee) is missing yet another practice.

According to David Lombardi of The Athletic, Joe Staley, who resides in the San Diego area (a short drive away), is in attendance to observe today's practice.

49ers see impending mega-deal for Brock Purdy as a 'good problem'

By David Bonilla
Mar 27

The San Francisco 49ers are actively working to sign wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a contract extension, aiming to maintain their talented young core of players. The team has reached agreements with star players during each of the last four offseasons, securing George Kittle in 2020, Fred Warner in 2021, Deebo Samuel in 2022, and Nick Bosa in 2023. Another key contributor poised for a new deal next offseason is quarterback Brock Purdy. Over the last couple of years, the 49ers have been in the unique position of not having to pay much money (relatively) to stock their quarterback room while reaping the benefits of superb play from their starting signal-caller. However,

49ers actively negotiating with Brandon Aiyuk, not discussing trades, says John Lynch

By David Bonilla
Mar 25

General manager John Lynch addressed reporters at the NFL owners meetings on Monday, emphasizing the San Francisco 49ers' active pursuit of a contract extension for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. There has been significant speculation surrounding Aiyuk's status this offseason. The receiver is slated to play on his fifth-year option, which guarantees him $14.124 million in 2024. While the team would be content with Aiyuk playing on that fifth-year option, it would prefer to secure the star receiver to a long-term deal before he returns to the field.
