To say that Trey Lance sounds very professional would be a vast understatement. When he steps up to the podium to speak with reporters, the responses he quickly rattles off sound very rehearsed, almost as if they were put together by a public relations firm. That's not a knock on Lance. It's actually a compliment. Lance responds how you would expect a veteran quarterback to do so. One who has been asked the same questions over and over during a lengthy career. For a rookie, it is very impressive.

Remember, Lance is 21 years old.

Lance speaks quickly without revealing too much, though, as any good veteran quarterback might. We see that a lot from Jimmy Garoppolo, who had years of tutelage during his time in New England in the art of revealing nothing. One veteran team reporter, Eric Branch, told tight end George Kittle after today's practice and after Lance's media availability, "he's not really saying much to us."

That prompted Branch to ask what Lance is really like when he doesn't have a bunch of reporters hanging on his every word, trying to find something, anything really, to write about.

"Trey's great. He's got a great personality," Kittle responded. "He's got plenty of energy, he's [got a] good vibe. He's definitely a 21-year-old. Like, I connect well with him now and I think we would have been best friends when I was 21. He definitely has his head on a lot straighter than I did when I was 21, and I know I would not be in the NFL as a 21-year-old, so kudos to him.

"He's very professional every single day but he enjoys it, and you can tell. I like being around people who enjoy what they do, love what they do, and you can tell by the time and effort he puts into it every single day, whether he's in the training room, whether he's at his locker looking at his iPad, he's just always doing something. He's never wasting time, and I appreciate that."

Kittle was also asked if he was the one who invited Lance to Las Vegas over the offseason. Videos surfaced of the rookie quarterback with Kittle and several others during the trip.

"No, I didn't even invite him," Kittle responded. "I don't even know how he showed up."
