Details emerge on Zach Kerr’s one-year contract with 49ers

Mar 31, 2021 at 7:04 PM--

Last week, the San Francisco 49ers signed defensive lineman Zach Kerr to a one-year deal. OverTheCap.com provided the contract details, for those who are interested.

Kerr's deal includes a base salary of $1.075 million with a signing bonus of $50,000 and a total per-game roster bonus of $87,500. $200,000 of the deal is guaranteed.

There is only a $971,094 salary-cap hit due to the veteran salary benefit that was part of last year's new collective bargaining agreement. It allows a team to offer a one-year deal to any player with at least four credited seasons at a reduced salary cap hit.

According to OverTheCap.com, San Francisco currently has nearly $19.6 million in salary-cap space, which ranks as the ninth-most in the league.

Former 49ers GM likes Trey Lance over Zach Wilson

By David Bonilla
May 5, 2021

Scot McCloughan spent two seasons as the San Francisco 49ers general manager, helping build the roster eventually taken over by Trent Baalke and Jim Harbaugh. Before that, he was the team's VP of personnel. Matt Barrows of The Athletic spoke with McCloughan to get his opinion of his former team's most recent draft class. While his pre-draft grades had Zach Wilson, whom the New York Jets selected at No. 2, rated higher than Trey Lance, the 49ers' pick, McCloughan would have personally selected Lance over Wilson. He wouldn't have, however, traded two future first-round picks to move up to get him. The inexperience at North Dakota State and the level of competition created too many unknowns. But personally, he still liked Lance more than

The San Francisco 49ers announced that the team has re-signed offensive lineman Tom Compton to a one-year deal. Washington made Compton a sixth-round selection out of South Dakota in 2012. The offensive lineman has 106 game appearances through his nine NFL seasons. Compton, 31, has spent time with Washington (2012-15), the Atlanta Falcons (2016), Chicago Bears (2017), Minnesota Vikings (2018), New York Jets (2019), and 49ers (2020). He has appeared in seven games with three starts with San

Report: Patriots working on a new contract for 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo -- just in case

Apr 28, 2021

Better safe than sorry, right? Dale Arnold of NESN reports that the New England Patriots are working on a new contract for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Yes, Garoppolo is still with the San Francisco 49ers, and this news doesn't necessarily mean that a deal is imminent. If accurate, it just means that the Patriots are getting everything in order -- just in case a trade happens. It could also mean that the Patriots believe the 49ers are likely to seek a trade. What I've been told, by a reliable source —- @Patriots are working on a new

49ers have no plans to restructure Jimmy Garoppolo's contract, say Shanahan and Lynch

By David Bonilla

The 2021 NFL Draft is in the books. San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch spoke with reporters after making their eighth and final selection. There has been some speculation that the team might ask quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to restructure his contract this offseason, especially after drafting his eventual replacement — Trey Lance of North Dakota State — with the No. 3 overall pick. There are no plans to do so right now. Why? Because it's not necessary. Even after earmarking over $12 million for its latest rookie class, San Francisco isn't as pushed up against the salary cap as some felt it would be this offseason. Garoppolo remains part of the 49ers' plans for the upcoming season and will be needed to mentor the
