Kyle Shanahan expects rookie receiver Jauan Jennings to return this season

Nov 25, 2020 at 2:15 PM--

San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Jauan Jennings landed on the practice squad injured reserve list on October 24. Nothing was really said of his injury, though. Today, head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about his 23-year-old receiver and revealed that the rookie is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Shanahan doesn't expect Jennings to remain out for the remainder season, though. The coach hopes his young receiver can return soon and maybe even contribute, if needed.

"I'm hoping [he returns]," Shanahan told reporters. "We think (he's) about three weeks away. It was tough because he was doing really good in practice and definitely would have ended up helping us this year. But he pulled his hamstring really bad, as bad as anyone we've had this year.

"So, I forget what week it was, but it was about a six-week injury. So, he did that, and it's been unfortunate because he would have had some opportunities here, the way things have gone."

Having Jennings available might have helped the 49ers during their Week 9 contest against the Green Bay Packers. The team prepared for the game on a short week with one healthy receiver and another listed as "questionable" after several others were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Three weeks later, the 49ers sit at 4-6 and face an uphill battle to make the playoffs.

John Lynch expects to keep Fred Warner, calls linebacker a 'big part of the fabric' of the 49ers

Jan 4, 2021

San Francisco 49ers fans started to get a little worried last year as the season drew closer and All-Pro tight end George Kittle still didn't have a contract extension. That all got resolved around mid-August, though. Could the 49ers be facing a similar challenge with linebacker Fred Warner, who is preparing to enter the final year of his rookie deal? Obviously, general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan would prefer to lock up their young defensive star for the foreseeable future, and they expect that to happen. That doesn't mean extending Warner will be easy. The 49ers will need to reward the linebacker financially while juggling the complexities of a shrinking salary cap. "We talk about challenges, and those challenges are there,"

Kyle Juszczyk emotional while discussing his future, wants to return to 49ers

By David Bonilla

Kyle Juszczyk hopes to return to the San Francisco 49ers next season. Like so many of his teammates, he is scheduled to become a free agent. The fullback knows the situation, though. The team is pressed up against a salary cap that is expected to fall in 2021. That means some tough decisions are to be made, and Juszczyk is already by far the highest-paid fullback in the league. He is also the best and a key component in the 49ers' rushing attack. Juszczyk spoke with reporters on Monday via Zoom and was noticeably emotional while discussing his NFL future. "To be honest with you, it's just kind of a sense of (being) unsure," Juszczyk said of his NFL future. "I'm not totally sure what's ahead for me. I don't want it to be a sense of finality. Honestly, it's just
