ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter continued his tradition of sharing his strong, value, and sleeper picks for fantasy football during the upcoming NFL season.
"Obviously, these aren't the only players I think will excel in 2020, but I feel these players have a real chance to outperform their current draft value," writes Schefter. "If given a choice at certain junctures in the draft, or in a tiebreaker situation, these are players who will receive strong consideration."
So, obviously, I perused through the list for any San Francisco 49ers players. OK, I used the find feature within my browser to search the page. I found two results.
George Kittle is among the two names listed as strong picks for tight ends. Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, of course, is the other. That shouldn't surprise anyone.
The other 49ers name that came up was wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, who was listed among Schefter's sleeper picks for wide receivers.
Bourne is entering his fourth NFL season after signing with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Washington in 2017. He has compiled 1,102 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his three NFL seasons but has lofty goals for 2020.
In June, the receiver shared his list of motivational goals via Instagram. They included being a starter, leader, 1,000-yard receiver, and of course, winning a Super Bowl. Accomplishing those would undoubtedly make his fantasy football stock rise.
"We challenge to get the most out of him every single day, regardless of what the situation is," head coach Kyle Shanahan said recently, "but if you go in and look at the cut-ups last year — and we had some really good play from Deebo (Samuel) and from Emmanuel (Sanders) — but you watch Bourne, he might not have had as many catches and stuff, but just his consistent play over last year, I thought he was one of our best guys, if not our best.
"He's always ready when he gets the ball. He keeps running his routes. You don't know where the coverage is going to take the ball, but Bourne's gotten better each year."
