The San Francisco 49ers will hold their first practice of training camp today. Until now, the team has been taking part in walk-throughs. The session is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am with head coach Kyle Shanahan speaking to reporters afterward via a video conference call. Various players will be made available after that.
Below are some pre-practice notes.
Defensive lineman Arik Armstead will not practice due to some "back irritation."
Wide receiver Jalen Hurd and tight end Jordan Reed will participate but will be eased back. Both players missed all of last season. Hurd dealt with a back injury while Reed dealt with the symptoms of a concussion.
New 49ers, wide receivers Tavon Austin and J.J. Nelson, are set to practice despite not officially being announced as signed yet. They obviously are, though. Austin is wearing No. 5 while Nelson is wearing No. 7.
