First look at rookies Javon Kinlaw and Brandon Aiyuk in 49ers uniforms

Aug 1, 2020 at 5:50 PM--

In June, San Francisco 49ers fans got a glimpse of rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in a Niners uniform thanks to Panini America. Now, they got a look at the real thing, and it included the player selected 11 spots ahead of Aiyuk — defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw.

The 49ers posted photos of the team's top two draft picks from April in their full game-day uniforms for the first time.

San Francisco selected Kinlaw with the No. 14 overall pick. He will wear DeForest Buckner's former No. 99 this season. Aiyuk will don No. 11, which belonged to Marquise Goodwin. Buckner was traded to the Indianapolis Colts while Goodwin was sent to the Philadelphia Eagles, making both of their numbers available.

Both players will be expected to step in and immediately contribute to a team that fell just short of a championship. The 49ers start the season on September 13 against the Arizona Cardinals at Levi's Stadium.

Sixth-year defender Arik Armstead joined 95.7 The Game on Friday afternoon and shared his thoughts on the San Francisco 49ers defensive line. The 49ers are coming off a Super Bowl appearance. It was a game that the team came close to winning, which has led to high expectations as San Francisco heads into an unprecedented 2020 season. The defensive line lost DeForest Buckner this offseason but tried to offset the departure by drafting defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw. "Jimmy, honestly," Kinlaw responded. "My own quarterback." Now, Kinlaw isn't going to be sacking Jimmy Garoppolo any time soon. They are teammates, after all. So why did Kinlaw name his own team's
