Two San Francisco 49ers, head coach Kyle Shanahan and All-Pro tight end George Kittle, joined a recent #BayAreaUnite campaign featuring Bay Area athletes. The sports stars in the video encourage the public to remain at home and practice social distancing as the nation combats the coronavirus pandemic.

"Let's get through this together, Bay Area," says Shanahan.

Other Bay Area teams represented in the video are the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, Oakland A's, San Jose Sharks, San Jose Earthquakes, and Oakland Roots SC, with the athletes recording their portions from their homes. It also features San Francisco mayor London Breed, San Jose mayor Sam Liccardo, and Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf.

There has been some debate surrounding the timeline of when sports might return to the Bay Area. A Santa Clara county official recently stated that he doesn't expect it to happen before Thanksgiving. Until a decision on that front is made, Bay Area teams, including the 49ers, are encouraging sports fans, and people in general, to continue staying at home to help stop the spread of the virus.

"Let's flatten the curve by staying home and following the guidelines," adds Kittle.
