Add this play to this season's highlight reel. Following the Los Angeles Rams scoring on the first offensive drive of the game to take a 7-0 lead, wide receiver Richie James took the ensuing kickoff 81 yards on this impressive run.

Note: The play was initially reported to be an 82-yard return before being adjusted to 81 yards.


The 49ers managed to kick a field goal on the drive and currently trail 7-3 in the first quarter. Rams quarterback Jared Goff was 4-of-4 for 66 yards and a touchdown in his first drive while 49ers quarterback Garoppolo was 1-of-3 for nine yards following James' return.

One former San Francisco 49ers player is making his opinion of Super Bowl 58 very clear. He believes his former team was dealt a bad hand in the matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas two months ago. Former 49ers safety Donte Whitner, appearing this week on the "Up & Adam" show with Kay Adams, was vocal regarding the matchup and how certain circumstances seemed to favor the Chiefs. "And when we think about the Super Bowl as well, I think that the 49ers played against the refs as well, guys," Whitner told Adams. "I think that when we look at that film and you see bear hugs on those defensive ends, right? And you really see it in blatant moments in the game." Kellen Mond will try out during 49ers' local pro day

The San Francisco 49ers are set to host their local pro day this Wednesday afternoon, offering numerous draft prospects a prime opportunity to display their skills before the team's coaches, scouts, and front-office personnel. However, it won't be just draft hopefuls on the field in Santa Clara. According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, several others, including a former third-round draft pick, quarterback Kellen Mond, will try out for the team. Brandon Aiyuk must really need that new contract. The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver took on an offseason job as an Applebee's employee while awaiting news about his NFL future. Well, not exactly. It was actually part of the series "Undercover Athlete" from Whistle, promoting the new "Whole Lotta Bacon Burger."
