12:45 - Welcome to the live blog for the week 2 preseason game between the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers.

12:46 - The 49ers will be making history today as they play the first football game in the history of Levi's Stadium.

12:50 - The only 49ers not in uniform today are LaMichael James, Anthony Davis, Glenn Dorsey, Justin Smith, Ian Williams and of course Navorro Bowman.

1:03 - Ray McDonald is also out today. Went through warmups but now in street clothes. The 49ers defensive line depth will be the same as it was in Baltimore.

1:06 - 49ers have won the toss and will receive to unzip this place.

1:08 - Bruce Miller with a 30 yard return of the opening kickoff. Not bad for a fullback.

1:10 - 9 yard gain for Frank Gore on his first run in Levi's Stadium.

1:11 - Anquan Boldin with a 10 yard reception. First Down.

1:12 - Brandon Lloyd enters the game before Stevie Johnson.

1:15 - Kaepernick overthrows Brandon Lloyd on a fly route down the right sideline on 3rd down.

1:16 - Phil Dawson has the leg but is wide right on a 55 yard attempt.

1:18 - The 49ers used 3 wide receivers only once on their opening drive.

1:18 - Wes Welker beats Jimmie Ward for a first down.

1:21 - 49ers defense gives up a big 20 yard reception to Demaryius Thomas on 3rd down. Denver is 2 for 2 on third down to open the game.

1:23 - Manning misses Caldwell in the endzone on 3rd down. The 49ers defense holds and forces a field goal.

1:26 - The 49ers front did a good job of putting pressure on Manning, and the front 7 looked much improved against the run compared to a week ago.

1:28 - Colin Kaepernick coming out for a second series. He is joined by Brandon Lloyd, Stevie Johnson and Carlos Hyde.

1:30 - Kaepernick hits Lloyd for a first down.

1:34 - Stevie Johnson drops the ball on 3rd down to end the drive. Had both hands on the ball.

1:39 - The first quarter comes to a close with the Broncos driving the ball.

1:42 - First quarter passing stats: Colin Kaepernick 5/9, 39 yards. Peyton Manning 7/9, 55 yards.

1:43 - Nice job by Chris Borland to read the run and get through for a tackle after a short gain of maybe 1 yard. Antoine Bethea is injured and down on the field.

1:46 - Tony Jerod-Eddie needs to make that tackle.

1:48 - Peyton Manning to Julius Thomas for a touchdown. That was too easy.

1:49 - The 49ers played their base 3-4 quite a bit on that drive. Don't expect to see that when these teams play again during the regular season.

1:56 - Rookie Marcus Martin is in at center, Ryan Seymour right guard and Adam Snyder at left guard.

1:51 - Bruce Ellington with a nice kickoff return. He looks like a natural. So explosive.

1:58 - Rookie Marcus Martin is in at center, Adam Snyder at left guard, Carter Bykowskie at left tackle and Ryan Seymour at right guard.

1:59 - Will Tukuafu picks up the first down.

2:02 - Jewel Hampton with a drop for the second week in a row on 3rd down. Phil Dawson then misses wide right for the second time today.

2:03 - Alfonso Smith was the 3rd back into the game for the 49ers. Looked very quick on his rush attempts. Could be pushing Hampton for a roster spot.

2:05 - Quinton Dial just engulfs the running back after beating the lineman at the point of attack.

2:06 - Tank Carradine blows by the right guard, but Osweiler does a good job of getting the ball out to avoid a sack. These young interior defensive linemen look really good for the second week in a row.

2:13 - Gabbert has struggled through the first couple preseason games, but he also hasn't received much help from the receivers. Ellington's drop was the 6th of a Gabbert pass by my count this preseason.

2:16 - Michael Wilhoite with another whiff on a back in the hole and the Broncos pick up the first down.

2:22 - Corey Lemonier with a tremendous jump off the edge and just misses a sack on Osweiler.

2:24 - CJ Anderson with a 1 yard touchdown run to make it 17-0 with only 2 seconds remaining in the first half.

2:33 - Two quick takes on the first half. The 49ers are playing very vanilla on defense and much more base than we will see from them during the regular season when spread out. The first team offense moved the ball very well for the second week in a row. Kaepernick was poised in the pocket and only real bad throw was while scrambling right when he overthrew the receiver.

2:47 - 49ers backups getting no pressure on the passer without blitzing, but force Broncos to punt on their first possession of the second half. Aaron Lynch does not look impressive coming off the edge.

2:50 - Gabbert on the money to Ellington for a first down to open up the 49ers first possession of the second half.

2:57 - Gabbert tries to force a ball down the middle to Quinton Patton and is picked off to end the drive. He had Kassim Osgood wide open underneath.

2:58 - On first down Dontae Johnson is beat down the right sideline for a deep touchdown. This shouldn't be a surprise for anyone who watched Johnson play at NC State.

3:05 - Josh Johnson has come into the game at quarterback.

3:07 - On Johnson's second play he trips coming out from undercenter and then fumbles the ball. It is recovered by Denver.

3:16 - Kenneth Acker with a nice pass break up on the goalline. That's the second nice play for the rookie on this series.

3:17 - CJ Spillman just gets demolished by the running back.

3:19 - Now Kenneth Acker intercepts a pass, but it is wiped out by an offsides call on Aaron Lynch.

3:21 - At the end of the third quarter Denver leads 24-0.

3:24 - A common phrase mentioned when talking about the 49ers is depth. The interesting thing is, the 49ers backups have been beaten soundly through the first two preseason games. May be time to start rethinking that.

3:29 - After a Denver field goal, David Reed fumbles the kickoff return and the Broncos recover on the 49ers 10 yard line.

3:37 - Jewel Hampton with another drop. This guy can't catch his breath.

3:42 - The Broncos sack Josh Johnson on 3rd down. Looks like the 49ers will be shut out in the first game in their new digs.

3:44 - The only thing Josh Johnson has going for him is that his name isn't Blaine Gabbert.

3:54 - Mcleod Bethel-Thompson is now in the game at quarterback for 49ers, and like the other three backup quarterbacks he promptly turns the ball over.

3:57 - The Broncos turn the interception into a quick seven points. Definitely has been a theme for the day.

4:02 - The 49ers quarterbacks have not completed a pass thrown over 10 yards all day, including Kaepernick.

4:05 - So much for that. The 49ers best pass play of the day comes off a pass that should have been intercepted.

4:09 - Jewel Hampton is stuffed on 4th and goal. The 49ers will be shut out.

4:10 - Final Score: Denver 34 San Franciso 0. That was about the sloppiest game, preseason or not, of the Jim Harbaugh era. Really bad football.
