Jerry Rice has no shortage of confidence in his former NFL team — the Jimmy Garoppolo-led San Francisco 49ers. The Hall of Fame wide receiver appeared on ESPN's "First Take" Monday morning and discussed several topics, including his new book, the Cleveland Browns, and, of course, offered his prediction for the 49ers.
Rice believes his former squad will be celebrating a Super Bowl win in February, an opinion he has held for much of the season. The 49ers hit the midway point in their season boasting an 8-0 record and, after the Baltimore Ravens handed the New England Patriots their first loss of the year on Sunday night, remain the NFL's only undefeated team.
Stephen A. Smith has remained a skeptic when it comes to the 49ers' signal-caller, Garoppolo, but that isn't the case for Rice.
"They're going to continue winning," Rice told Smith.
The "First Take" host said, yes, the 49ers could indeed make it to the NFC championship.
"Oh no, they're going to win the whole thing," Rice responded.
In case it wasn't clear, Rice repeated: "They're going to win the whole thing."
"That's emotion talking," Smith rebutted, claiming that Rice's opinion might not be objective.
"No, I picked them from day one," Rice answered back. "Jimmy G is going to get them to the promised land. Hear me right now; they're gonna win the Super Bowl."
