49ers-Browns Injury Report: Tevin Coleman, Dee Ford, two starting Browns corners listed as questionable

Oct 5, 2019 at 1:30 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 5 contest against the Cleveland Browns on Monday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Defensive end Dee Ford returned to practice on Saturday after missing time on Thursday and Friday. That's good news for the pass rusher's chances of playing on Monday night.

Ford is dealing with knee tendinitis, which could cause him discomfort throughout the season, and a quadriceps issue. The team is likely to limit his practices this season to make sure he can go on game days.

Running back Tevin Coleman practiced for the third straight day as he attempts to return from a high-ankle sprain suffered during Week 1. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he is optimistic Coleman will be good to go on Monday.

Both Ford and Coleman are listed as questionable for Monday's game.

Defensive back Jimmie Ward, who is being considered to start at free safety on Monday night, also practiced on Saturday. He suffered a broken finger during practice on September 4.

The Browns listed their starting cornerbacks, Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams, as questionable for Monday. Neither practiced this week as they are dealing with hamstring injuries and neither plated last week against the Baltimore Ravens.

Below are the official injury reports for the 49ers and Browns, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff. Also included are this week's practice participation reports.

Football Outsiders has once again taken a look at the best young players in the league who don't have a lot of playing time. The feature for ESPN casts aside first-round picks and other top prospects, and instead focuses on those who didn't receive a lot of fanfare. "This is a list of players who have a strong chance to make an impact in the NFL despite their lack of draft stock and the fact they weren't immediate NFL starters," wrote Rivers McCown. The list is a top 25 ranking, and two players represent the San Francisco 49ers. The first — 26-year-old offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill — comes in at No. 10. The

Two writers for The Athletic, Matt Barrows and David Lombardi, recently took a shot at predicting the San Francisco 49ers' 53-man roster. That's not an easy task, given the unusual circumstances surrounding the offseason. NFL players haven't even practiced together in an official capacity. Although, that will happen soon, thanks to a recent agreement between the league and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA). Training camps will begin next week, once players undergo two separate COVID-19 tests. The first couple of weeks will focus on strength and conditioning and walk-throughs. Players will finally put on helmets on the 18th day and then pads on the
