San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was named a second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press on Friday morning. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce earned the first-team selection.
Kittle learned in December that he was selected to his first Pro Bowl. The game will take place on January 27, 2019, at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
"It's an honor being able to play well on such a storied franchise," Kittle said during an NFL Network interview in December. "It's just really fun. The whole year, it's been pretty successful. I'd like some more wins, but I think those are going to come in the next couple of years."
Kittle is the only 49ers player to earn All-Pro honors for the 2018 season. He is coming off a season during which he set a new NFL record for receiving yards by a tight end.
Kittle finished the year, his second in the NFL, with 88 receptions for 1,377 yards with five touchdowns. He had an NFL-leading 873 yards after the catch, according to Pro Football Focus. Kittle finished the season as Pro Football Focus' top-graded tight end with an overall grade of 89.8.
Kelce finished the season with 103 receptions for 1,336 yards with 10 touchdowns. His single-season receiving yards rank second all-time for a tight end to Kittle's record mark.
The last 49ers player to earn All-Pro honors was linebacker NaVorro Bowman, who was named to the first-team after the 2015 season.
