The San Francisco 49ers beat the Oakland Raiders 34-3 at Levi's Stadium on Thursday night in the final Battle of the Bay game. It was the first start and first regular-season NFL snaps for second-year quarterback Nick Mullens, who completed 16 of his 22 pass attempts for 262 yards with three touchdowns in the win.
The game was just the second victory of the season for head coach Kyle Shanahan's young and injury-plagued squad. Both he and Mullens spoke to the team in the locker room after the win.
Said Mullens: "When we won against the Cowboys, we came to this locker room and I said, 'It's only preseason, but that's why we play the game.' Well, this isn't preseason!"
Shanahan told his players that "everyone played their ass off" against the Raiders.
"Enjoy it tonight," he continued. "Enjoy it this weekend."

Let's start with a mea culpa. I got it wrong: It was, in fact, The Last Dance for that 49ers team.
You can blame many things for that completely errant prediction, but if pushed, I'd put it down to sheer belief and optimism that such a good 49ers team, that gave us all such...
Surprisingly, this question is being asked so frequently, but if we approach it objectively, the answer is quite straightforward. The short response is that the 49ers should not part ways with Kyle Shanahan or John Lynch, as they consistently win and most teams in the NFL would...
