The San Francisco 49ers (1-6) once had odds of 14-1 to win the Super Bowl 53. That seems like a long time ago. The team's current odds, according to Bovada, are 500-1, which are the same odds as its next opponent, the Arizona Cardinals (1-6).
The two teams met on October 7. It was a game that San Francisco dominated statistically (except in turnovers) but lost 28-18. Still, Vegas oddsmakers remain unsure which team will come out on top when they meet again for a Week 8 rematch.
Including the 49ers, there remain four one-win teams in the NFL. San Francisco will face each of the others over the next three games with the first coming on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The 49ers will follow up that matchup with contests against the Oakland Raiders (1-5) and then the New York Giants (1-6).
San Francisco is coming off of a 39-10 beating at Levi's Stadium by the NFL's last unbeaten team, the Los Angeles Rams. While quarterback C.J. Beathard has played uninspiring football at home, he has performed better on the road. Beathard has averaged 6.4 yards per pass attempt at Levi's Stadium and 9.1 away from the team's home turf.
The Cardinals are also coming off of a home beating. The Denver Broncos dominated in a 45-10 victory last Thursday night. The loss resulted in offensive coordinator Mike McCoy losing his job. Coincidentally, McCoy once served as the offensive coordinator in Denver.
Neither team is currently considered to be a favorite with various casinos and betting sites setting the odds as Even. Those numbers could change as the game draws near. The over/under for Sunday's game is listed at 42.5 points.
The Cardinals have won their last seven matchups against the 49ers. The two teams kick off at 1:25 p.m. PT on Sunday.
