At the time of this post, the San Francisco 49ers trail the Kansas City Chiefs 28-7 at Arrowhead Stadium, and it isn't even halftime. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is working with three backup players in the secondary. Only starting cornerback Richard Sherman is playing with Jimmie Ward in at the right cornerback spot for Ahkello Witherspoon, D.J. Reed in at free safety for Adrian Colbert, and Antone Exum in at strong safety for Jaquiski Tartt.
It also doesn't help that the 49ers are going up against one of the most potent offenses in the league and are playing in an opposing team's home opener for the second time in three weeks.
It wasn't long ago that Saleh was a fan favorite. It has just been a matter of weeks, in fact. Three games into the 2018 season, the Niner Faithful appear to be turning on him. It's a testament to how quickly things can change in the NFL.
If Shanahan does ever get the niners back to the top level of the NFL, it'll be with a different defensive coordinator. 3 first round picks on that d line and getting man handled.
