49ers-Cardinals Injury Report: Carlos Hyde questionable and will be a game-time decision

Sep 29, 2017 at 1:29 PM--

As expected, neither linebacker Reuben Foster nor safety Eric Reid will play during the San Francisco 49ers' road game on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

Foster is still recovering from a high-ankle sprain he suffered during Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. Reid is recovering from a PCL injury he suffered during Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks.

As for the three players who were in the concussion protocol this week, Shanahan said Friday that they would all be questionable for Sunday's game.

"When it comes to concussions, my experience with it is I don't ever try to totally predict," Shanahan said. "Things can change and you never totally know what to expect. And you've got to be very safe with that stuff also."

Running back Carlos is also questionable and will be a game-time decision.

"He got out there a little bit more today," Shanahan said. "Definitely still hurting."

Below are the official injury reports for the 49ers and the Cardinals. Also included are Friday's practice participation reports, which were provided by the 49ers Communications team.

Why decision to return to 49ers was easy for Jake Brendel; Center discusses Javon Hargrave signing

By David Bonilla
Mar 19

Jake Brendel had suitors in free agency. Several teams, including the San Francisco 49ers, were interested in the veteran center. Ultimately, much to the delight of fans, he returned to the Niners, his NFL home since 2020. Brendel played 1,252 snaps this past season, by far the most of his career. His 62.9 overall, 71.8 pass-blocking, and 61.9 run-blocking Pro Football Focus grades were each the second-highest of his career. Despite being in the league since 2016, Brendel played just 250 total snaps before this past season, so he lacks the wear and tear of most 30-year-old offensive linemen. The center still feels like his career is just getting started, and his play is on the rise. "Honestly, I

Ben Roethlisberger says 49ers reached out after Jimmy Garoppolo injury

By David Bonilla
Mar 21

The San Francisco 49ers made a call to former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger during the 2022 season after Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a broken foot. Despite rookie Brock Purdy stepping in and leading the team to a December 4 win over the Miami Dolphins, the 49ers understandably opted to look into all their options, including finding out if Roethlisberger might be interested in temporarily pausing his retirement. "Last year, there were some truths to the Niners thing," Roethlisberger told Mark Madden at 105.9 The X,

49ers have no plans to trade Javon Kinlaw, per report

By David Bonilla
Mar 23

The San Francisco 49ers plan to hold onto defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw for the fourth and final year of his rookie deal. According to Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group, who spoke with general manager John Lynch on Wednesday at Stanford's pro day, the team has no plans to trade the former first-round pick. Some wondered about Kinlaw's future after the 49ers signed former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave to a four-year, $84 million deal. To many, the move seemingly signaled an admission that trading DeForest Buckner in 2020

What Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers saw in Sam Darnold

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers signing Sam Darnold was a bit of a surprise. It probably shouldn't have been, though. The team has liked the veteran quarterback for a while now. They did their homework on Darnold in 2018, leading to that draft, and flirted with the idea of trading for him in 2021 before the New York Jets sent him to the Carolina Panthers. The 49ers came calling when Darnold hit free agency this month, signing the quarterback to a one-year deal. The team already has other young quarterbacks—Brock Purdy and Trey Lance—on its roster. However, it's worth noting that both are attempting to return from injuries. Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury in September. Purdy is expected to be out until at least early September after undergoing surgery on March
