San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan gave an update on one of the six players who appeared on the team's Monday morning injury list. Rookie linebacker Jimmie Gilbert, who was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado, suffered a torn ACL that will require surgery.
"Gilbert, he did tear his ACL," Shanahan said on Monday. "So that's definitely going to need a surgery...Obviously, with the ACL tear, we're going to have to make a decision how we handle that but he's definitely getting surgery for that."
The 49ers are still looking into the severity of the hamstring injury to rookie wide receiver B.J. Johnson.
