Gameday: San Francisco 49ers at Tennessee Titans

Oct 20, 2013 at 12:00 AM--

This afternoon, the Titans will host the San Francisco 49ers at LP Field in Nashville, Tennessee. The two teams last met on November 8, 2009 when the Titans beat the 49ers 34-27 in San Francisco.

Offensively, the 49ers are ranked 23rd in the league while the Titans are ranked 29th. Defensively, the 49ers are ranked 9th in the league while the Titans are ranked 10th.

The 49ers are looking for their fourth consecutive victory while the Titans are looking to avoid a third straight loss. The 49ers' current regular season winning streak is their longest since the end of the 2011 season. 49ers running back Frank Gore has averaged almost 80 yards per game this season. During the past four games, he has averaged just over 104 yards per game.

It was announced on Saturday that, barring a late setback, Titans starting quarterback Jake Locker would be back in the lineup after missing the past three games due to a hip injury suffered in a win over the New York Jets just three weeks ago. It was originally believed Locker would miss four to eight weeks. Titans running back Chris Johnson started the season strong averaging over 85 yards per game during the team's first three games. During the Titans' last three games, he has only rushed for a combined 71 yards.

Last week, the 49ers (4-2) defeated the Arizona Cardinals 32-20. The Titans (3-3) were defeated by the Seattle Seahawks 20-13.

For the 49ers, WR Quinton Patton (foot) is out. WR Jon Baldwin (illness), DT Glenn Dorsey (hamstring), DT Ray McDonald (biceps), CB Carlos Rogers (knee), and DT Justin Smith (shoulder) are listed as questionable. G Alex Boone (shoulder), LB Ahmad Brooks (not injury related), CB Tarell Brown (knee), T Anthony Davis (shoulder), TE Vernon Davis (hamstring), G Mike Iupati(stinger), QB Colin Kaepernick (foot), S Eric Reid (hip, ankle), LB Michael Wilhoite (quadricep, ankle), and LB Patrick Willis (groin) are listed as probable.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were reportedly interested in trading for star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. However, the San Francisco 49ers' asking price of the No. 17 overall pick plus a player was seemingly too high for the team. Now, it appears another AFC team might be trying to pry Aiyuk away from the West Coast. Andrew Fillipponi of Pittsburgh-area radio station 93.7 The Fan reports that the Steelers are looking to work out a deal with the 49ers for the receiver.
