Yes, those are crickets that you hear as you try to listen to news about all of the San Francisco 49ers moves during the second day of free agency. As other teams like the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots made headlines with big signings, the 49ers continued their calm and quiet approach to free agency. After all, no one is going to win the Super Bowl in March.

The big news of the day was the release of Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis, who immediately became the best free agent of 2014. Rated as the top cornerback of 2013 according to Pro Football Focus, Revis wasted no time in finding a new home for the upcoming season. Some 49ers fans were victims of wishful thinking because San Francisco was never going to get into the picture as a suitor for Revis. His price was just too high. Instead, Revis went to New England on a 1-year, $12 million contract. The Patriots lose their best defensive player in cornerback Aqib Talib to the Denver Broncos and somehow still manage to improve at the position.

Back to the 49ers, there were not too many whispers of what was going on with them. The team is still interested in former Miami Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll. Of course, so are the Browns and the Bills. In fact, Carroll spent Wednesday visiting with the Bills.

The 49ers are showing interest in former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook. He will visit with the team on Thursday.

The team is probably playing the waiting game with one of their own free agents in Tarell Brown. He has received very little interest from other teams so far.

So to recap free agency for the 49ers so far...

Dominique Rodgers Cromartie could possibly be a good choice for cornerback or Charles Tillman! Wide receiver I think James Jones or Sidney Rice would be a great asset but if you go to the draft Sammy Watkins as a Rookie would be a great choice he fast and catches everything that is thrown his way!!

ESPN analyst on Brandon Aiyuk: 49ers shouldn't pay two receivers top dollar

By David Bonilla
Apr 9

ESPN analyst Matt Miller understands the perspective of San Francisco 49ers fans. After all, he has been a fan of the team since he was a kid. Seeing any of your favorite players leave and put on another uniform is tough. It's also difficult to pay everyone, and Miller knows that. It's not a formula for successful roster building, including paying two wide receivers top dollar. The 49ers are trying to negotiate a contract extension with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. The team invested heavily in another receiver, Deebo Samuel, just two years ago. Is allowing each of them to consume a significant chunk of the salary cap feasible for a team that hopes to continue being competitive and win Super Bowls? "I have to separate the fan part of my brain, who

Despite initial reports, two draft prospects who were set to visit the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft ultimately did not meet with the team. Matt Barrows of The Athletic revealed that former USC wide receiver Brenden Rice and former Oregon safety Jamal Hill didn't end up visiting the Bay Area organization. Barrows wrote, "Meanwhile, a report in March indicated that USC receiver Brenden Rice, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, would visit the 49ers, but he didn't end up coming, according to two league sources." The San Francisco 49ers are set to host their local pro day this Wednesday afternoon, offering numerous draft prospects a prime opportunity to display their skills before the team's coaches, scouts, and front-office personnel. However, it won't be just draft hopefuls on the field in Santa Clara. According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, several others, including a former third-round draft pick, quarterback Kellen Mond, will try out for the team. Maiocco's report also names tight ends Curtis Hodges, Hunter Kampmoyer, and Tommy Sweeney among those expected to attend. In addition those invited to

49ers local pro day: These 44 players will work out in Santa Clara

By David Bonilla
Apr 10

The San Francisco 49ers are holding their local pro day today at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. The team has released the full roster of participants. An NFL local pro day is an event hosted by teams to allow prospects with ties to the local area to showcase their skills in front of team personnel. These prospects typically hail from nearby colleges or have some other connection to the region where the team is based. Head coach Kyle Shanahan, general manager John Lynch, and a contingent of coaches, executives, and scouts will be on hand to evaluate prospective draftees during the 49ers' local pro day. The event aims to give the team a closer look at these local talents who may have received less attention during the regular scouting process. It will allow the
