Keshawn Martin is latest vagabond receiver to join 49ers

Wide receiver Keshawn Martin is living in a hotel, has a temporary nameplate taped to his locker in the 49ers' facility and is spending his free time studying a foreign playbook. Martin, who was signed Tuesday, is the latest face to join one of the NFL's most feeble passing attacks. After three games, the 49ers rank 30th in the NFL in passing yards per game (175.3) and have the fewest completions of 20-plus yards (five) in the league. The new players have joined rookie sixth-round pick Aaron Burbridge (zero catches), Quinton Patton (45 career catches) and Torrey Smith, the most accomplished member who is miscast as a No. 1 wideout. The 49ers signed wide receiver Eric Rogers, who led the CFL in receiving yards last year, but otherwise didn't address the position until they selected Burbridge with the 213th overall pick. Even if Rogers and Bruce Ellington hadn't sustained season-ending injuries in the summer, the 49ers were still prepared to enter the regular season with one wide receiver (Smith) who had more than 36 career catches. Kerley leads the 49ers in catches (12) and yards (114), although those figures rank 60th and 92nd in the NFL, respectively. Martin, who was among the...

Latest NFL.com mock draft suggests 49ers upgrade right tackle spot
By David Bonilla

NFL Media's Adam Rank has thrown his hat into the mock draft ring. However, there's a slight twist. Rather than projecting what NFL teams will do in Round 1, he's sharing what he believes they should do in Round 1. For the San Francisco 49ers at No. 31 overall, Rank suggests general manager John Lynch should focus on upgrading the offensive line. Specifically, he recommends finding a replacement for Colton McKivitz at right tackle.
Rank proposes that the 49ers use their first-round pick on former Oklahoma tackle Tyler Guyton.
"Last season, Colton McKivitz gave up nine sacks -- tied for fourth-most in the NFL, per PFF," Rank

NFL Network host Rhett Lewis released his first mock draft of the year on NFL.com. What does he project the San Francisco 49ers doing with the No. 31 overall pick? Lewis has the team acquiring some edge-rushing help, bolstering a group that already includes Nick Bosa and newly signed Leonard Floyd.
The host has the 49ers selecting former Penn State edge rusher Chop Robinson.
According to Sports Reference, Robinson registered 41 tackles, including 17.5 for a loss, 9.5 sacks, three passes defensed, and three forced fumbles in two

The San Francisco 49ers have overhauled their defensive line in free agency, bidding farewell to defensive tackle Arik Armstead and defensive end Chase Young while bolstering their ranks with the signings of defensive ends Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos. Additionally, they acquired defensive tackle Maliek Collins via trade.
Having focused primarily on the defensive side of the ball in free agency, the 49ers are widely anticipated to turn their attention to the offensive side in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

ESPN analyst weighs in on 49ers potentially drafting a wide receiver

The San Francisco 49ers will likely add a rookie wide receiver via the draft, and it has nothing to do with Brandon Aiyuk's current contract situation. Deebo Samuel is about as physical a player as you'll find at the position, so wear and tear, along with his significant salary, has to be a concern. Jauan Jennings is slated to become an unrestricted free agent next year.
The 49ers have tried to address the position recently, drafting Ronnie Bell in the seventh round last year and Danny Gray in the third round in 2022. While it's too early to judge Bell, Gray has played only 87 offensive snaps as a pro. His career stat line is unimpressive, recording only one reception for 10 yards on seven targets.
