Banged-Up and Torched 49ers Secondary Prepares for Cowboys
The 49ers received some good news this week that starting cornerback Jimmie Ward's injury suffered against the Seahawks last Sunday wasn't season-ending. Ward's status has been called "week to week" after he strained a quadriceps on a special teams play in the loss at Seattle.But, for the short term, that means one of two young cornerbacks – Keith Reaser or rookie Rashard Robinson -- will have to take a big step forward this week to replace him against a dangerous Dallas Cowboys offense.The Cowboys, guided by rookie starting quarterback Dak Prescott, rank eighth in the NFL in total offense, averaging 385 yards per game.Prescott has been incredibly efficient so far as a passer, completing 66-of-99 passes for 767 yards and a touchdown without an interception. And, his cast of receivers – Cole Beaslley, Jaston Witten, Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams – has been impressive, combining for 52 of those 66 completions. Even though Bryant is unlikely to play because of an injury, the 49ers defense will have its hands full trying to stop Dallas' balanced offense. 49ers' culture led to Josh Dobbs and Jauan Jennings reunion

When Josh Dobbs signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent, he was already familiar with at least one new teammate. Dobbs played two seasons alongside Jauan Jennings, the Niners' dependable and physical wide receiver, at the University of Tennessee, and was thrilled to reunite with him in Santa Clara. San Francisco made Jennings a seventh-round draft pick in 2020. Four years later, they find themselves teammates once again.
Jennings recently joined Dobbs on his podcast, "Torchbearers." The two reminisced about their time at Tennessee before briefly discussing their reunion with the Niners.

Analyst Steve Palazzolo unveiled a first-round mock draft for Pro Football Focus, attempting to forecast the selections for each NFL team within the top 32 picks. While the San Francisco 49ers concentrated on strengthening the defensive line in free agency, Palazzolo envisions the team continuing to fortify that side of the ball.

It's evident that the San Francisco 49ers engaged in long-term financial planning. Much discussion has centered around the feasibility of the team committing significant financial resources to two wide receivers, Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.
