49ers’ Anthony Davis back at practice; reportedly no longer playing guard

Right guard Anthony Davis returned to practice this morning after a one-day absence and he will likely be available for the season opener on Monday night against the Rams, a league source said. The Chronicle learned he met with team officials after Saturday's practice and those discussions swayed him to stay with the team. Davis will no longer play guard, a position he hadn't played since his freshman season at Rutgers, and will only serve as a backup tackle, NinersNation.com reported. "We talked to him about trying to get our five best (offensive linemen) on the field and obviously A.D.'s in our top five," Kelly said on KNBR. Players who miss a practice during the week must be listed as questionable or doubtful, according to new league rules.

According to NFL Insider, Benjamin Allbright, the Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, to add him as a weapon for QB Russell Wilson. The Steelers added Wilson earlier this offseason after the Denver Broncos decided to move on from him. The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.

Draft Watch: Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley visiting 49ers on Wednesday

The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday.
Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick. San Francisco owns two selections on Day 2—the No. 63 overall pick in the second round and the No. 94 overall pick in the third round. Currently, the receiver is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks.
