Matt Maiocco of
CSN Bay Area reports that San Francisco 49ers
QB Colin Kaepernick was seen throwing the football on the practice field for the first time this offseason. Kaepernick, who has not yet been cleared medically to practice with the team, has been limited to throwing with trainers on the side of the practice field.
On the field, he has been seen going through the quarterback motions to stay mentally sharp.
Thursday was the final day of organized team activities for the 49ers. The team will next reconvene for a mandatory minicamp from June 7 through 9.
Earlier today, offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins restated that there is no timetable for Kaepernick to be cleared for practice. That is up to the medical staff and not the coaches.
Kaepernick has been rehabbing from multiple surgeries. He tore a ligament in his throwing hand's thumb during an October 22 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. During his next game, a November 1 matchup against the St. Louis Rams, Kaepernick said that he suffered a bone bruise and cracked cartilage. That game would be his last of the season before being benched in favor of
Blaine Gabbert and eventually placed on injured reserve.
