The San Francisco 49ers announced their 2016 preseason schedule today.
Week 1: vs Houston Texans
Week 2: at Denver Broncos
Week 3: vs Green Bay Packers
Week 4: at San Diego Chargers
These are the opponents that new head coach Chip Kelly will be facing as he works to get his team ready for the regular season. As usual, the 49ers will face the Chargers in preseason. They have faced San Diego in preseason every year since 1987.
The Denver Broncos are once again on the schedule. That's only worth noting because of the current situation surrounding 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Broncos' interest in acquiring him.
The two home games at Levi's Stadium will be against the Houston Texans and new quarterback Brock Osweiler during Week 1 and then two weeks later against the Green Bay Packers.
Dates and times have not yet been set, so fans will have to wait until later in the offseason to see exactly when the 49ers will face each opponent. All 49ers preseason games will be televised locally around the Bay Area on KPIX 5.

Anthony "Spice" Adams to announce 49ers' draft picks in 2nd and 3rd rounds
NFL Communications has officially announced the "NFL legends and active players" who will announce selections during Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Representing the San Francisco 49ers will be former defensive tackle Anthony "Spice" Adams, who spent four seasons with the team and nine in the NFL.
San Francisco selected Adams out of Penn State in the second round (No. 57 overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.

49ers sign WR Trent Taylor, reuniting with former draft pick
The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.

Draft Watch: Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley visiting 49ers on Wednesday
The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday.
Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick. San Francisco owns two selections on Day 2—the No. 63 overall pick in the second round and the No. 94 overall pick in the third round. Currently, the receiver is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks.

Rapoport: 49ers send clear message to teams inquiring about Brandon Aiyuk
Ian Rapoport didn't offer much of an update on the ongoing contract negotiations between the San Francisco 49ers and their standout wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk. However, the NFL insider emphasized one thing: The team is not entertaining trade discussions at this juncture.
Reacting to Aiyuk's decision to unfollow the 49ers on Instagram, Rapoport couldn't help but chuckle at the latest development. This practice has become commonplace among players who are unhappy with their contract situations.
