An overwhelming majority of online mock drafts have the San Francisco 49ers selecting Cal QB Jared Goff in next month's draft. That has not changed from last week when Goff was the team's selection in over 53 percent of surveyed mocks. This week, that number has increased to nearly 58 percent with even more mock drafts making Goff the 49ers' selection with the seventh selection pick.

The top two players remain the same as last week, with the majority of mocks having the 49ers selecting Goff and then North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz coming in a distant second. Last week, UCLA OLB Myles Jack and Oregon DE DeForest Buckner tied for third. This week, Buckner remains tied for third, but this time with Notre Dame OT Ronnie Stanley.

Quarterbacks make up over 83 percent of the projections compared to last week when the position was just over 78 percent.

Normally we would say that mock drafts mean nothing and are just a fun way to see where analysts and the media see players going. However, we are reminded that last year an overwhelming percentage of them had the 49ers taking Arik Armstead with their first round selection. The 49ers did take Armstead with their first round selection. Although, they were able to do so after trading down a few spots.

Below is the complete breakdown of our survey of mock drafts this week. You can view the complete list of mocks and their selections within our 49ers Draft War Room. The reported percentages are rounded to the nearest tenth.

Player School Last Week This Week
QB Jared Goff California 53.3% 57.9%
QB Carson Wentz North Dakota State 21.7% 24.2%
DE DeForest Buckner Oregon 4.3% 3.2%
OT Ronnie Stanley Notre Dame 3.3% 3.2%
RB Ezekiel Elliott Ohio State - 2.1%
DE Joey Bosa Ohio State 3.3% 2.1%
OLB Myles Jack UCLA 4.3% 2.1%

Breaking down the 49ers drafts under John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan

By Marc Adams
Apr 20

We are less than one week away from the NFL Draft, and the San Francisco 49ers have their first day-one draft pick since 2021. That was the year they selected QB Trey Lance number three overall. The trade-up to get Lance cost the 49ers their first-round picks in 2022 and 2023. And now that they are back in the first round, at pick 31, fans are anxious to see what the team does with the pick. And with former assistant GM, Adam Peters, now in Washington, it will be interesting to see how well the 49ers draft without Peters in the room. We looked back at the seven drafts GM John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan have led to see what information we could pull from those drafts. There were plenty of hits, plenty of misses, and a few surprises along the way. The draft picks are

7-round mock draft from The Athletic sees 49ers fortifying defense early

By David Bonilla

Analyst Dane Brugler recently revealed his seven-round mock draft for The Athletic, forecasting all 257 selections in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, set to kick off next week. "Piecing together a mock like this is time consuming, but I enjoy the exercise, because it allows me to focus on each team's needs, organizational trends and prospect-team pairings that make sense based on '30' visits, league buzz and overall interest," Brugler wrote. Most expect the 49ers to address the trenches early in the draft, and Brugler has the team doing that. It's just not on the offensive side of the football. In fact, Brugler doesn't have San Francisco

7-round mock draft: 49ers trade up to fortify secondary

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers first selection in next week's draft comes at No. 31 overall. However, NFL Media analyst Chad Reuter doesn't have the Bay Area team remaining at that spot in the first round. In his seven-round mock draft, he envisions the 49ers striking a deal with the Green Bay Packers to move up six spots to No. 25 overall, where they select former Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry. Reuter notes, "Whether it's for a cornerback like McKinstry, an offensive lineman or a receiver, the 49ers could very well give up a mid-round pick to acquire one of the few missing pieces on an otherwise potent roster." The rest of the mock draft reveals at least part of the

49ers trade up for offensive lineman in mock draft

By David Bonilla
Apr 19

The San Francisco 49ers hold the No. 31 overall pick, but speculation abounds that they may seek to move before or during the first round of next week's NFL Draft. With the offensive line as a prime target for improvement and the position going mostly ignored in free agency, a strategic trade-up to acquire an impact player could be in the cards. Alyssa Barbieri proposes such a scenario in her latest mock draft for USA Today's Touchdown Wire. Barbieri envisions the 49ers trading with the Miami Dolphins to move up 10 spots, selecting former Alabama offensive lineman JC Latham. Latham started 27 games
