NFL sells Pro Bowl jerseys with a hefty $175 price tag

Jan 29, 2016 at 2:50 PM--

For some time now, fans have complained about the prices of Nike NFL merchandise since they took over as the official league outfitter from the already overpriced Reebok. Game jerseys, which are replica jerseys that feature screen printed names and numbers on them, have a recommended retail price of $99.99. Limited jerseys, which are of higher quality and feature stitched tackle twill name and numbers, have a recommended retail price of $149.99. Elite jerseys, which are similar to the ones worn by the players during games, have a recommended retail price of $294.99. At those prices, it's easy to see why cheaper knock-off jerseys are so popular.

If you were planning on picking up a NaVorro Bowman Pro Bowl jersey (No love for Joe Staley who does not have a jersey available) at these same prices, think again. Pro Bowl jerseys that feature screen printed names and numbers on them, the same style that runs $99.99 for team versions, will cost you a recommended retail price of $174.99. You read that correctly. That's $25 more than the higher quality Limited jerseys available.

You may love Bowman, but do you love him enough to pay those kinds of prices?

The annual AFC-NFC all-star game will take place on Sunday, January 31 at 4 PM Pacific. This will be Bowman's third Pro Bowl appearance (2012, 2013 and 2015 seasons).

Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz reports that the San Francisco 49ers were among several NFL teams in attendance for former Illinois defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton's pro day workout. The defender also goes by the name "Johnny." Illinois DT Johnny Newton, a projected 1st-round pick, just wrapped up an impressive Pro Day — showcasing elite explosion and power after a Jones fracture that he's fully healed from.I'm told the following teams were in attendance, among others:BillsCowboys49ersJets… pic.twitter.com/ggMIiIBkub—
